ITs 9/11 on Saturday....just been thinking lately...
I cannot believe its been 3 years already...
I have just been thinking a lot lately about the families who have been forever affected by the loss of loved ones, and the people who were so innocent who were murdered on that horrible day...
Is anyone doing anything special on Saturday? I have no special plans. I just can;t believe how much the world has had to change since then...its actually frightening...I do not know if I was ignorant or WHAT< but I never even HEARD of Osama Bin laden before that day....we need to catch this B A S T A R D

Me and Don are having a get together with our cousins. We had family in the World Trade Center, they were on the 88th Floor and thankfully they all got out so we decided that on the 11th we should all be together.

Since 9/11...we light red, white and blue candles and put them on the porch all day and night. We also have gone back to the site at night since then. Very surreal.

We live across the street from a park and that night they are having a candlelight vigil so we will probably go over there.

I just wanted to say I think that's a really cool thing to do. I love the candles idea.

we had family & friends there...also family & friends were cops who responded. Some made it, some didn't, but every year we try to do something good on that day. This year we are celebrating a landmark B-day, Last year we had a 'cousins' party.

I'll be at my second fitting.
My knee still kills me and the nightmares haven't gone away. We both (Jim & I) still carry braclets for the friends we lost. Jim's is now in my car. 3 years and I'm still fighting the State about my injuries from that day. And no, I didn't get any *money* for my injuries. Didnt sue the city, firefighters, police or airlines.
I'm picking up my immunization records and sending them off to Nassau Community College.
I'm doing what my friend always told me to do. Get off my A$$ and go back to school. She died that day but lives on in almost everything I do.
I'm trying moving on.. and I'm making it point to do so because that is what I need to do.
I'll watch the TV and how the relatives honor the gone and wonder how many others like me wounded and still living are sitting in front of their TV's wondering which was better, injury or death? (morbid, but true)
9/11 sucks because I live with everyday and then I feel like the public sorta pays attention every now and then. But I guess I understand that.
wish I were going to a wedding.. something fun to look forward to. But I hope to make it a happy day with the fitting.

my bachelorette party is saturday. I feel a little guilty about that, but it jsut worked out that day, without realizing the number.
Fh's bachelor party is that day too, & he will be going out with the friend who I thought was on the 90-something floor that day ( but it happened before he go there)

I'll just be doing my thing. Taking time to remeber the lost and pray for the safe return of all of the brave soldiers. Praying for the families left behind.
There are also good things to think about. Pinochet overthrew Allende in a US lef coup on Sept 11, 1973, and finally the immunity has been lifted and Pinochet will be going to trial soon.
Hopefully someday we will be able to put all of the oppressive and evil people in this world on trial. If not, we'll leave it up to a higher power.

I too cant believe how time has flown since then. Everything we do is now 'pre' or 'post' 9/11
I was wondering, since we are on the topic - does anyone feel they should build the towers back? I have heard many opinions on this Architects say they can make them even better now that technology has advanced.
When i see them in movies - i realize how much i miss seeing them - standing tall.
My thoughts to all who lost anyone on that day.

Re: ITs 9/11 on Saturday....just been thinking lately...
if you look in my avatar you can tell i have been thinking alot about 9/11/04. i lost a very close friend that day we were lucky enough to find and bury him but others werent so lucky.
being the wife of a police officer i can only imagine the grief of losing your loved one but then never getting to bury them. my friend lost of fiance and they never recovered him and she says she feels as if he just went to work one day and vanished.
i think its so important that we talk about that day and remember it not only for the people lost but for the survivors. no one should have suffered that day in vain. i promised myself that my children and there children will know all about 9/11 and the people that i loved that i lost that day. i will also tell them of the incredible bravery that not only nypd and fdny showed that day but average citizens.
im going to go to the cemetary on sat and visit my friend and then im going to have the biggest steak dinner available because thats what he would want

Spending a quiet day at home with my husband. He responded that day and barely got out with his life. Saying lots of prayers for those who didn't make it
