It's FINALLY over...my BFF's Bridal Shower was yesterday and here are my final thoughts and vents!!!!

It's FINALLY over...my BFF's Bridal Shower was yesterday and here are my final thoughts and vents!!!!

PROS: I don't have to lie to her anymore thank goodness cause that was so hard I found myself just not answering her calls so I wouldn't accidentally slip lol!!!! She was totally surprised which was my biggest concern...the party came out GREAT. Her grandma (who broke her pelvis a few weeks ago) was actually able to make it after all. I was so worried she wasn't going to be able to make it because she can't move very well now and Lindsay would have been devistated. But she was so happy to see her grandma there

CONS: The BM's who were 'supposed' to be at my house at 10:00am to help out with everything (because the party started at 12:00) STROLLED IN at 11:30 and just sat around doing NOTHING!!!! Aside from 1 BM who is almost 9 months pregnant she got there at 10:45 and helped as much as her little pregnant self could! So in the end myself, my mom, my aunt AND MY GRANDMA were running around from 8:00 in the morning getting everything together, setting up and cooking. Even after the BM's finally came they did NOTHING. I don't know about anyone else but I was brought up that if I saw someone's mom, aunt AND ESPECIALLY grandma doing so much work to set up this party I would help as much as I could. And mind you one of the BM's (Lindsay's FH's sister) strolled in at 12:30 and sat on her a$$ the whole party!!!!

I (no thanks to any of the BM's) did a great job planning!!!!! I would do it again in a heartbeat for HER but next time I would rather pay for eveything myself then deal with any of the BM's (aside from the little preggo) again

that stinks! I was in a bridal party a few years ago with 10 girls. Basically two or three of us did all the work and the others sat around and watched...it was awful

Things always seem to go that way when you have alot of people involved in something. There's always going to be one slacker...or 2 or 3

that is horrible!! you kno - i totally know how you feel because i always end up being 'that girl'

i was so involved for FH's cousin's shower that people came up to me and asked if i planned it and said i did a great job! not only did i not THROW the shower BUT i had only met the girl twice before!! but i was the one who set up the whole thing - served food and cake - wrote down her gifts - made her little hat thing - and THEN i packed up all the stuff and CLEANED UP

i didnt WANT to do that but the only other people NOT on their behinds were all older women and like you said - i couldnt just sit there while they did everyhting!

anyway - i am sure you did an awesome job!! and i am sure you friend appreciates the effort!

That is horrible that they didn't help out. Well I am glad that everything YOU did came our great. Good job. You should be very pleased.

Some people may just not know they need to help.

I mean I never thought the bridal party should be involved in the shower....in my fam..and alot of people I know...the mother and sisters plan the shower...The bridal party does not contribute at all...

but her sis should have not even sat on her a$$And if they knew they had to help and DIDNT help thats just wrong.

that stinks, I'm glad it all worked out though. It's very difficult being the responsible one because people think they can let you do all the work

Well in this case the girls knew because unfortunately Lindsay (bride-2-be) lost her mom and doesn't have a very big family so we all talked about what 'we' were going to do for the shower put our money together and in the end I ended up doing everything that we all talked about and decided we were all going to do.

Me too Tilde, I planned a bachelorette party for a girl I only met maybe once or twice also because nobody stepped up to the plate and I felt bad that it seemed like she was going to get nothing. It just ***** because I don't think people put themselves in the other persons shoes. I would want a beautiful well thought out shower and bachelorette party so that's of course what I'm going to do for someone else. It seems like some people will only do the best for themselves and not when it comes to doing for other people.

ur a very big person and im sure the bride really appreciates it. that was really nice of u to host a shower because i know it is ALOT of work. u go girl!
