how different weddings are in different parts of the country. i was bored last night and stumbled onto the indiana board on the knot ( don't ask... i think somebody had linked something from there or something... LOL ) but anyway so there was a thread on there about what would your 'dream wedding' be... and a few of the girls put things like ' unlimited alcohol' and ' a big ballroom with a chandeleir' and ' tons of food'... i just thought it was so funny, becasue this is all what we think of as pretty standard in this area.... LOL maybe thats why its sooo much cheaper to get married there!

It is so true! I worked in a catering hall and it was so cool to see the different traditions people have from different religions and nationalities, so I can't imagine how different people's weddings are their own countries! Especially Russian weddings. Their weddings are so much fun, exciting, entertaining, and long (but in a good way). I used to love to work when their was a Russian bride and groom because I knew it was going to be a fun night!

In Ireland they eat dinner at the reception first, then open the dancefloor. Also, the BMS rent their dresses!

it was actually indiana, not india.... LOL but it sounds like an awesome job you had at the catering hall with all the different weddings! i'm a teacher, with summers off, and i always think i would lovevto work at a catering hall in the summers, just to see all the different weddings!

I've been to weddings in nebraska....indiana....chicago....and they were all much different from a NY wedding. Actually I even catered weddings upstate. One was in a barn (which was surprisingly beautiful with the white christmas twinkle lights all over), the other was on horseback and then the reception was in their yard. Everyone was different in it's own way, but nothing compared to what we do down here. I told my mom after them all (actually after the 1st one, but then again after each) that I want a NY wedding.

Haha I kno!!! My mom's family lives in PA which isnt tooo far and they do everything sooooooooo different. They don't have receptions in halls, usually someones yard or a firehouse - something like that and they serve like bolgna sandwhiches and then have cake and thats about it ------they were amazed at the CH!!!!! So they cant wait to come to mine
