It's invitation etiquette day!

It's invitation etiquette day!

OK, so I know if a child lives at home, and is over 18, they get their own invite, end of story.

But is there ever an instance when age really is just a number?

Like lets say you have a family....that has 3 adult children....the oldest won't be getting an invitation , the middle will be invited with his gf, and the youngest, the daughter, was going to be invited with the parents. She is over 18, but for all intents and purposes, is a child, maturity level, economically (no job, student), and otherwise is just babied. No bf, so no guest.

I mean, I will probably send her her own invite just for scrap booking purposes, but since it is not an instance where we'd be getting a separate gift, or there's a guest involved, and she is extremely bound to the parents in all ways, would it be inappropriate in this case to just send the invite to the three of them and call it a day?

Not everyone follows that rule. There were plenty of invites that came to my parents house that invited me and my brother without guest and well over the age of 18. I would just use one invite with the parents and the one. I did that for two separate families only really to save on the invites. I didn't invite the daughter with guest and included them on the parent invite. With one of those, I sent two separate invites to the house because another sibling lived at the house with his spouse. They were invited separately.

on another note...kinda curious why the oldest isn't invited. that's me just being nosy.

If they all live in the same house, I don't see why its a problem to address it as:

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
and Jane Doe

hmm... this is a toughy...

I'm usually the person who says 'just send em however you want to' and I'm shying on that side again in this case.

You know just one invite is going to go on their fridge... so why not just send one invite with the parents names on one line and the adult child on the second.

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
Miss Jane Smith
123 Main Street
Our Town, New York 12345

Looks ok to me...

Yea, that sounds good. It doesnt look bad either. I dont think you should send her an invite... just put her on with the parents in this case. Normally, I also say send an invite to adults 18 and over.... but not with this one.

We're having a similar issue. FH's godparents got an invite, we are now inviting their daughters (age 25 & 23) who still live at home. Do we send them one invite or two?

i think I'm scrapping that rule.... I'm saving some money on invites and postage! Kids who live at home and without guests are included on the parents invite!

I almost wish I didnt do that. I had people who I invited without a guest and the responded with a guest. I almost wish I didn't send them their own invitation.
