Well it seems official! I called my doctor and they said with the results like I had them , there is no need for a blood test. I am around 5 weeks they said and will go on the 13th for my first ultrasound.
It’s all so crazy! I mean completely unexpected. I have been off the pill since November, but we really don’t have sex that often (TMI I know, but what with the working together and all we seem to never have the time!) So this was a shot in the dark. Literally one time that month…. I didn’t even get to be TTC, which concerns me a little. I hadn’t really altered my diet, started to exercise, read any books, cut back on caffeine and alcohol. So there is a lot of withdrawal going on right now in addition to having this little grain of rice in there. Fortunately I have no nausea. (For all you 'old hats' out there. Can that start later on? Or should I consider myself one of the lucky few without morning sickness?) I am only starving and quite tired.
My doctor said to stay away from the basics. Caffeine, alcohol, stress of course, artificial sweeteners, hot dogs and cold cuts, soft cheese, etc. But for the REAL doctors – (my liwedding buddies!!!!) what is your advice right now? What should I expect this month? When will I start to grow into a moose? And when will I stop CRYING! I am SO emotional!!!!!

Re: it's official
It is very hard to find yourself pregnant unexpectly. My advise is to go out and get A Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy. I found that book really helpful. Also, your doctor is correct about what to stay away from (although I did have a small piece of brie a few days ago). Oh, and you should decide it you want this doctor to deliver your baby. You don't have to stay with him/her. If you feel that you might be more comfortable with looking around you should do that now. I decided I wanted a midwife because I like the personal attention and knowing who is going to be with me the day I go into labor. it is a personal decision, of course.
Take your vitamins and get some rest. I never got super sick ,but I was tired all the time.

Its such a happy time... and with that one time thing it was fate making it happen.
Your doctor is right cut back on the 'bad' things... I cant think of anything else that you shouldnt be eatting... did he say chocolate (that contains caffeen(sp?))
I hate to tell you but my morning sickness didnt start till I was 7 weeks... it lasted till I was 13 1/2 weeks then it was over. Make sure you have crackers in the house.
Best of luck in the next 35 weeks!!! Congrats again to you and DH.

Congrats!!! I too was caught a little off guard when I found out I was pregnant. We were very happy when we found out because we knew thats what we wanted but it can be a very overwhelming feeling too. Listen to your doctors advise and relax you have plenty of time to catch up on reading and getting everything figured out. And if you have any immediate questions you know we're here for you.
Unfortunately I don't think you can count you blessing about morning sickness just yet. I thought I was in the clear too but at 13 weeks it hit me...and hit me hard, in the morning AND at night! But pregnancy effects everyone a little differently so just hope for the best.
Best of luck to you.

Congrats again Jenny argggggggggggg Morning sickness.. I cant handle mine anymore its so SO bad With my first though, I never ever felt nausea, not even once.. Every pregnancy is different. There are great books and websites out there that explain what you should expect every month, again.. everyone is different.. Have you started Prental vitamins and folic acid? All you can do is take extra good care of yourself and relax and enjoy it....
Do you have a EDD? Kathi can add you right behind me now on the calender. YaY

Re: it's official
congrats again! go get your books & start thinking pregnant! I didn't start feeling sick until 6-7 weeks which was really bad until about 12 weeks. But my gf whose pg the same week as me didn't get sick at all! Only about 50% of women get Morning sickness (which can happen at any time during the day ... mine was all night!) at all. Hopefully you'll be lucky!
The u/s is soooo exciting! We didn't get to go until I was about 11 weeks & the detail was amazing. We watched the baby move & wave & heard the heartbeat. We couldn't get a video tho. See if your tech can give you one!
good luck!

On my God ... where was I? Congratulations Jenny!!!! Wow, I'm so happy for you, but can totally understand why you are so emotional right now. I'm sure it is overwhelming news, especially when you didn't expect it, but it's terrific news nonetheless!!! Please remember that we are all here for you, so whenever you need to vent, chat, or just want a hug ( ), we are here!!!

Congratulations!!! Pregnancy is always a change - but it must be more so since yours was a bit unexpected. But think of it this way - you have nine months to get used to the idea!!
and you will NEVER grow into a moose , you will grow into a beautiful pregnant woman, with life forming inside her, carrying God's most amazing creation
