its times like this i wish i had my license

I want to go to homegoods and tj maxx and roosevelt field and shop for christmas decorations and gifts, but I only have my permit

I'm bored...and I'm pissed because apparently when we moved to this house we lost all our christmas ornaments and most of the christmas decorations. I spent so much $ last yr on them bc it was fh and my first christmas in our own place.

That is one of the problems with living in Long Island, a license is mandatory. Sorry to hear about your ornaments

yeah i hafta set up my road test...I've been slacking because I'm afraid of failing it. I have yet to paralell park. and today when driving my housemate to home depot i missed a stop sign.

I'll probrably just take the bus. I friggin HATE the bus.

what about taking a few lessons first, they can also teach you how to park and tell you a few tricks

don't be afraid of failing!! i finally took mine last week, and passed i was scared as sh!t, my tummy was all nervous, and the DMV lady was really rather nasty to me when she criticized my driving, but i still passed. i went to a driving school for lessons to re-learn how to park. also, whenever FH and i went out locally, i always drove for the practice. you can do it!! let me tell you, it was soo exciting to be able to go to target all by myself yesterday. i'm just pi$$ed that i waited so long to finally take my test.

just practice on the parking as much as you can, even if you take fh's car and do it on your block...theres a small trick about when to turn into a spot, when the lining (little opening) of the hood ends and windshield beings, well when you pull up alongside a car and then start backing up just keep going straight until that line gets to the back of the car next to you and then start turning.

The only way really to get comfortable with driving is just doing it consistently

I got my license like 6 years ago and I dont drive

seriously though, just go out and drive. the lessons helped, but driving w/ FH all the time was the bigger help. i used my lessons to practice my parking since that was the car i was going to use for the road test. if you're gonna use your car, have FH help you practice your parking.

FH is the worst! he exaggerates so much! if i come to a slow stop ...he'll jerk his head forward like he's just gotten whiplash. I'm not a bad driver...just my motions are still a bit jerky...but i drove on sunrise hwy and southern state and I'm still alive and my car is fine so i can't be THAT bad.

Go out and practice on the side streets. Remember they aren't going to make you park between two cars -- it will only be one infront of you. AND you only have to do it once -- you don't have to parallel park on LI that much. Being able to though is a huge advantage because you get great spots in the villages because most people don't know how to or can't do it with their SUVs.

THANK GOD! well I'm mostly concerned because they say if ur paralell parking and u so much as tap the curb lightly...you fail...thats what has me scared

i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE driving.....its such a stress reliever for me! sometimes if im cranky ill just leave and go for a drive i cant imagine not knowing how to drive! keep practicing so you can get out on the road!!

I don't think that is true. They will make you pull up to a car as if you are going to parallel park but then there is no car behind you or if there is it a HUGE spot. I am assuming it is the same way -- i forget that I did get my liscense a million years ago.

Practice practice practice -- it really does help. I couldn't really parallel park until I went away to school and now I could get a mac truck into a spot made for a minicooper!
