iTunes Question ...

Do I *have* to keep all the songs I've moved to the iPod in the LIBRARY taking up space on my computer's hard drive?

Or is the only purpose it serves is to have all the songs I've already imported (from CDs is all I've done so far) in one place in case something happened and I had to transfer to the iPod again?

I think it only serves as a back-up.

You can delete them from your library...I would just burn them onto a CD so that you have them all in one place. The thing with ipods though is that you can't get songs off of them They do this to prevent you from sharing music. DH downloaded a whole bunch of music from work to his ipod and then brought it home, plugged it into the home computer and can't access any of the songs. You can delete them, I think, but you can't then put them on to another computer...so annoying! I want those songs on my shuffle!!!!

Farah, it's totally doable.

There are several programs on the net that can do that for you - I like 'Ollie's iPod Extractor' the best. It's a free download!
