Re: IUD
i guess - its normal with the amount of hormones that they are giving u - if u go with Mirena (thats the IUD that has hormones that lasts 5 years) it has the same effect - good luck with your choices

I wrote my thesis on birth control ... Knowing what I know I don't take anything. I will not put anything in my body and the side effects of some of the other methods are ridiculous. I would do some research first before you go through with it.

Re: IUD
I was on the pill Yasmin for a while and it was great, well then I changed insurance companies and it was $50 a month and I had no Gyno change it well after a month of taking it I had no sex drive, and had major mood swings! I figured out it was the pill and stopped taking it. A week after I felt normal again it was so weird!

Re: IUD
my mom had one of the old school ones and abused it (i won't tell how you long she waited to get the thing taken out). when i went to my GYN to ask about BC alternatives since the pill had turned me into a crazy person not the least bit interested in sex, i was pretty nervous about sticking something in their, having never had children and not wanting to mess with my chances.
my GYN really went to bat for the IUD, saying they've come a long way and that it's one of the safest, most fool-proof methods.
ETA: i never got the IUD. we are currently using 'the film,' which is just a neat and convenient form of spermacide that's only about 85% effective. what's the worst that could happen? we get pregnant? that's part of the 3 year plan anyway, so we risk it.

When I was on it I had mood swings, weight flux depression ... I have been off it for 5 years and feel amazing. If you feel you have to take something I would talk to Lauren's sister or your OBGYN.

Re: IUD
my sister has a IUD and she has only one side effect, spotting before her period. She can keep in it for 10 years and of course go for your reg. check ups with your dr. I myself can not take the pill either, I was not the same person when I was on it.
