Ivan is currently category 5.
Hopefully it will lessen to a 1 or a 2 by the time it hits/passes Cuba.

I just got work from my grandfather, who was in his yard still; cleaning up the mess that Frances left. He said he just heard on the news that the Keys are expected to announce they are to be completely evacuated somtime between midnight tonight & 9am tomorrow.

They evacuated the non-residents from Key west & Marathion...now they are preparing to evacuate all ppl from all the islands...
My grandfather & his wife & the pets are all OK, thank god....he has an older spanish-style house, so it is realy strong. He only lost a couple of roof tiles & a small pice of the stucco near his roof, but he lost over $300,000 worth of exotic plants and trees from his garden that he has been building for 10 years. Thanks!

My parents have had it...they've been living out of a hotel and still have no power, toilets, electric, or anything in their house. They're driving up north to see us.

I feel so terrible. I have a friend who is in Key West. He just moved there for experimental cancer therapy. He'll be there for a few months. He doesn't know anyone and has nowhere to go. He tried to get a flight out but can't
I'm so worried for him, I hope Ivan turns!!

FI and I just pushed back our Disney trip to next Friday...we were supposed to be leaving tomorrow but didn't want to chance getting stuck in bad weather.

Odd thing is people forget so easily. Look at all the mobile homes in Florida.. it really makes NO sense to have one. Most of the insurance courses of taken regarding catastrophes indicate it should be practically illegal to allow mobile homes there.. but, they're still there.
