Ok.. Dell computers are easy to work with.

First thing - if it comes with a software disk - check the manual - on some scanners you must install the software before you plug the scanner into your computer. If so, do that now.

Second - check the connection on your scanner cable, and make sure there is a free spot for it on your computer to plug it in (umm and remember to plug it into the wall too LOL sooo many people forget that part!)

Let me know how it is going as you go along, I'll try to go through the whole thing as carefully as possible

no software-just had FH look around--it's at his office, so he'll hook it up for me tommorow! Sorry I can't wait to post them either!!!
