Ivory wedding dress
I am hoping to get some advice from others who have purchased (or have worn) ivory colored gowns. I ordered mine 3 weeks ago for my October wedding. I ordered an ivory gown since I am blonde and fair, and the store owner told me that a white gown would wash me out. Quite honestly I would have never known it wasn't white if she didn't tell me since the only way you would see it was ivory was if I was standing next to something white. My question is ... does my flowergirl now have to wear ivory too? And, what about my husband to be's tuxedo shirt and the others ... if I am in ivory and he is in a white shirt, white vest, white bowtie is it going to look strange in pictures? Help :) A small thing to worry about, but just curious. Thanks everyone :)

Ivory wedding dress
My dress is ivory(more like candlelight) and just like yours, you wouldn't be able to tell unless you are next to something white. We decided that an ivory flower girl dress would look the best. You just have to make sure it's not a yellow ivory(many of the dresses I found were too yellow). I finally found an organza and tulle dress in Charlotte's Kids in Massapequa. My fi will be wearing a white shirt with a black tie and vest. The white shirt shouldn't be noticeable. Here's some pictures of what everyone(except me) will be wearing www.jennifermatthew.homestead.com/attire.html

Kimber, I am wearing ivory, my flowergirls will be and my fi will wear a ivory shirt with a ivory tie. Like Jenn said it's not the yellow ivory either, it's a nice soft ivory. I don't know where you live but it was really hard for us to find a nice ivory for him to wear but we found one at White Tie tuxedos in Holbrook in the sunvet mall. Good Luck!

I'm wearing an ivory gown also, and my fiance will be wearing an ivory jacket and ivory shirt. It's really your call on whether or not he wears the ivory as well, but I saw my fiance in both shades and the ivory was the most attractive. In general I haven't seen a lot of people who can pull off a stark white tux. It usually isn't flattering, but of course there are exceptions. The sales woman told me that we should both wear the ivory or it would look like we hadn't coordinated our look. We are also putting the ring bearer and flower girls in ivory. The tux is made by After Six and we found them at RSVP Tuxedos in Bay Shore.

Hi! When I ordered my dress the shop told me my dress was Ivory too but I brought a swatch w/ me to get my veil and it turns out my dress is 'white diamond'..so be very careful b/c there is a BIG difference! I thought my dress was white too just like you did. My guys are wearing ivory shirts for the tuxedos, I compared them to the swatch and the ivory looked the best b/c it's not a real yellow but I have white bows at my church b/c they went the best. So my piece of advise is to get a watch and compare everything!! Good luck

Kimber, I just got married last month and wore a soft ivory as well, when I got the swatch for my shoes I honestly thought it was white, but when it was held up next to something white you could see a slight difference. My husband wore and ivory vest, ivory shirt and ivory euro tie. The others wore ivory shirts with their tuxes. The only problem I had was some shope do not carry ivory accessories to rent, so we wound up buying my husbands tie and vest

We were told...
...by the tux place that the husband's shirt should match the bride's dress otherwise you would be able to tell in pictures. My dress is candlelight and you could definitely tell the difference between the white and candlelight men's shirts. I would imagine the flower girls should also be in the same color, but the kids are going to look adorable no matter what they're wearing, and it's on a different scale, so I'm not sure how important that is. Good luck!

I wore ivory
I would recommend having everyone else in ivory. It will stand out if anyone is in white. You want to be the brightest one. And honestly it doesn't look ivory in the pictures. The guys had off white shirts. I'm fair skinned also and it made me look darker. You also have to be careful of what flowers you get, they can't be to white. And your veil has to be ivory too.

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless your standing together in good lighting no one will notice. Could you accent her dress with some color? A sash or floral trim that matches the bridesmaids will draw attention away from the basic white.

A little different
I'm wearing ivory. I ordered extra yardage of my bridesmaids dress fabric and I'm having a dress made of that for my flower girl so she will match them, no me. I know some people are die-hard and won't like that, but I don't want a mini-me running around at the reception and she would look better in a dark color anyway. Also, the ivory dresses I saw reminded me of baby beauty pagent costumes.
