Jack & Jill Invite - Please Help

My parents are throwing my fiance and I a engagment party/coed shower in November. I do not want a bridal shower, so this is it before the wedding. My mother wants to put the word 'shower' somewhere on the invitation so that people know that it's in place of a bridal shower, but I just think it sounds odd.

Have any of you had a jack and jill shower? If so, how did you word the invitation?

Right now it's like this...

Please join us at a shower honoring
Kate & P
Date, Time, blah blah blah

I just really don't like the way it sounds...

I'm open to any suggestions!!

Hey we are Date Twins and I am having a Jack and Jill Shower too

However, its a surprise FH and I do not even know when it is!! My mom is the one coordinating the whole thing so I can ask her what she wrote or is planning to write and then let you know!!

In the meantime maybe you can do a search online for ideas?

I love that your mom is surprising you... that is so fun!! Is she calling it a Jack and Jill shower? Is there a difference between that and an engagement party?

And engagement party is just that- a celebration of your engagement. It can be laid back or fancy and you usually wouldn't register for it. A shower is a time to shower the bride and groom with gifts. If you plan on registering for the party then I would say to lean more towards the idea of a shower.

My planning is going very well, we basically booked everything expect the HM and I still have to do BM dresses and invitations!

I am not too sure of the difference, but at our Jack and Jill we are only inviting the bridal party and close friends! Then I am having the typical bridal shower with just family and family friends! We wanted our Jack and Jill to be fun and more for the younger crowd!
