Re: Jack/ Jill shower ...
I've heard of this. To be quite honest - I would have to wrestle my FI to the ground and hog tie him to go to a shower. And that's not easy since he is 6'8' and almost 300 lbs.

i agree. its just not natural to torture your fh into being at a shower

I agree with the above posters. I know a lot of people are into these things but I cant imagine my DH or any of his friends wanting to watch me or any other woman open up a blender or a place setting unless there was free beer and a TV set in which case they can stay home and save some money!

We are doing a joint shower. We'll just tone down the girlie stuff a bit, which is fine with me.

I have been to Jack/Jill shower that was more like a Saturday afternoon BBQ. I thought it was a great idea, because honestly I get really bored at showers. They didn't open the presents and the guys (both old and young) seemed to have fun.

I really wanted to do this for my shower, but everyone fought me on it so i dont think it'll happen I think its a great idea for those who aren't big fans of the traditional shower (i also tend to be a little bored), I've heard of people not opening the presents at the shower (what i would have done) or keeping it to a minimum and having the male guests buy the FH 'manly' presents to open at the same time. I thought in a backyard bbq type setting, it could be lots of fun!

same here. the jack/jill i went to was in the summer and it was pretty much a backyard bbq. presents weren't opened...and it was very laid back. i left before the 'games' began--had another party to go to--but everyone had a blast.

I'm with you on this!! I thought it was settled and we were having a Jack and Jill, but now it turns out, it's a regular shower at a restaurant It would be fun if it was a regualar bbq where everybody can just chill

Re: Jack/ Jill shower ...
We had one, but it wasn't a typical 'shower.' We had a BBQ at a relative's house, very casual. We didn't have any games because, honestly, I hate them. It was just a good way to have both our families together and allow them to meet and interact. It doesn't have to be 'torture' for your FH. Mine had a great time catching up with my family members that he hadn't seen in a while.

my DH wouldn't have agreed to be within a mile of my shower!
I went to a shower a while back and the groom was there... you could tell he was SO uncomfortable.
