I may be having one because A)They may not be able to make the minimum B)Some of my family members are having inner conflicts and may not come because they don't want to see each other thus making my mom miss the minimum. So men may have to be invited so she can meet the minimum.
So much drama and bs i swear.

Re: Jack & Jill shower
Just don't do it like the one I told you about in that church basement where they charged a door fee... eek. That's the only one I've ever been to!
Are you sure you wouldn't rather just change your shower venue to somewhere that there isn't a minimum? Just a suggestion.
I'm only expecting 8 - 15 people at my ladies luncheon so we're doing it at a restaurant I like, rather than renting a room.
Would you FH come to your J&J shower? I always thought it's more like an engagement party once you start inviting guys.
Sorry if this response isn't that helpful... I'm just trying to brainstorm a little with ya here. Good luck with your planning!

Re: Jack & Jill shower
I am having a jack & jill shower. I am not a fan of showers to begin with bc I get bored watching someone open up presents for like one hour and wanted more of a party. We are doing it in a backyard and I want to have beer pong going so that the boys can have their fun too. The bridal shower games- I told my sister to keep them to a minimum...maybe 2 and thats it.
But can you change the place you are having it at if you dont think you can make the minimum? Did you talk to FH about it? What did he think of the idea?

Re: Jack & Jill shower
I may end up with one for the same reason...but not quite. The place I'm having it at has an outside tavern, and they told my mom if we don't meet the minimum, the men in the family can come eat the extra meals we're paying for in the tavern. So they wouldn't be in the room with us or bringing gifts or anything...but FH and his bro and father and uncles and my dad and uncle might just end up hanging out and waiting until it's over to help carry all the stuff.

Re: Jack & Jill shower
I think they are awesome! I wanted one but never really spoke up about it so I dont know what they are doing now... I DEFINITELY want one of these for a baby shower though, even if I have to plan it myself. My FH is SO baby crazy I think it would be SO much fun to open baby stuff with him!

I have no control over my shower, my mom put down a deposit and doesnt want to lose it so the venue can't be changed. We would never charge anyone at the door that is just ghetto. I discussed with my FH and he wouldnt mind at all.

I am having a Jack & Jill shower. My Mom asked FH if he was comfortable with it and he said yes. My FBIL was not so into the idea though!! We did not have an engagement party so I thought it would be ok.

Re: Jack & Jill shower
My shower was all women-I really wish FH could have stayed though-after 15 minutes he was like 'Have fun I love you baby' and bolted out the door. I was like 'HUH??' It's such a special day I wish fh could have stayed.
I think a J&J shower would be fun. Go for it!

If your FH is up for it, then it sounds like a wonderful idea! He could invite some of his guy friends and they can do their own sort of thing if the women are doing any real ladies' activities during the shower. Perhaps you could advise any women bringing special presents to mark them 'FFEO' -- for female eyes only -- so your FH doesn't get a preview of any special wedding night gifts you get.

Re: Jack & Jill shower
I did it and it was soo much fun... I loved having FH there and the men that are closestto us. We played games that involved the ladies and the men and FH and I. The men seemed to have more fun with the belly dancer also.

Re: Jack & Jill shower
I had my Jack & Jill shower last Friday nite - we had a cocktail party and it was AMAZING!!! I couldn't have asked for a better shower. Everyone loved the idea and we are still getting compliments on the shower - now everyone is super excited about the wedding. I had the same issue as you with minimums, when it's couples more people tend to come so be prepared to have more guests than anticipated. I did open gifts - but I did it in one section of the room for only people who wanted to be involved and worked out great.

Thats cool!!! What games did you play? Did you try to get the boys involved in any way?
Edit to add... that Im wondering how you incorporated the men bc I will be having a jack & jill party and want to make it fun for them as well....Im going to try to open gifts as fast as I can lol
