Re: Jack & Jill Showers

I agree-FH would rather stick knives in his eyes then sit threw my shower watching me open up linens and china and having everyone ooh and aah!
But that's just him!

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

i agree--FH said to me awhile ago--'it's not fair you get a shower what do I get?' he was just kidding of course! I Was like well the gifts are for US first of all, but if you'd like we can have a jack and jill (When i explained what it was his opinion on me getting a shower changed extremely fast! lol he wouldn't be caught dead @ a shower of any kind. i told him my dad would buy him power tools and manly things that day and he was satisfied!

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

JMO - i am not a fan of J&J showers. very few (if any) men enjoy them, plus i think the shower is a time for the women to bond and be together. i was at a J&J baby shower last fall and all the men (except the dad-to-be) were MISERABLE!!!!!!!

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

I had a Jack & Jill Baby shower for my brother and his wife. But we provided a lot of alcohol for the men My brother hated opening all the gifts infront of everyone. The only people who watched them open the gifts were women, all the men were in the backyard drinking..

My FH would hate it, but I made sure to put alot of things he would want on the registry so he doesn't feel left out.

One of my BM's is havign one in June but she doesn't want to open all the presents in front of everyone. So basically it is a party where we bring them gifts.

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

My mother brought it up to me. Like I want to know ANYTHING about my shower!
I prefer no. But this part of the wedding planning is not in my hands. I will leave it up to her and the BMs. I am sure whatever they do I will be happy with.

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

I really don't like going to showers and just the thought that there will be a shower for me makes me cringe. I really hate it when they open the gifts. I'm soooo bored out of my mind during that point. I thought a J&J would be fun since we didn't have an e-party. FH doesn't care either way but he said I should just have it all girls. Plus the fact that my BMs are asking if I'm having a shower pi$$es me off more to the whole idea of having a shower all together!

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

I want one, but my mom doesn't think it would go over well. So we are trying to work out a system in which the really cool appliances are left unopened, so FH and I can open them together. I can open all the towels and sheets and blankets and china, crystal, silver but I want to open the Kitchen-Aid mixer and the toaster, coffee-maker, food-processor together. I wonder if that will work. What would I do? Ask people to separate the gifts, then have FH come near the end of the shower and open them with me? We'll see

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

My FMIL threw my FSIL a Jack & Jill baby shower. They have a large house and the weather was nice - so mostly the guys hung out on the back deck drinking and eating and the woman sat in the living room to open the gifts. The rest of the time it was like a regular party or bbq.

I like the idea of having the traditional bridal shower - I was so overwhelmed by all of the people on Saturday at my shower - I couldn't imagine multiplying that by 2 to add the guys!

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

We're having a Jack and Jill Shower. But, it's more of a BBQ and hang out kind of thing for my family since many of them can't come to the wedding. It's going to be so much fun! I had a traditional shower w/my friends and his family here.

I think if you can leave the guys outside bbq - ing while you open gifts, or if there won't be a ton of people (and gifts) there, it's fine. Also, try to make it the least girly possible-just make it a big party.

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

I dont think my FI would really be into that. I could just picture him and the best man standing their laughing at all the ladies of how excited we get on little things.

I think my FI would be the one to somehow get me to the location and drop me off, say hello then come back later to get me and the gifts.

Re: Jack & Jill Showers

I've been to one before. It was at a house and the guys had a barbeque outside while the girls were inside opening gifts and eating a catered lunch. Afterwards everyone hung out outside.
