Re: japanese hair straightening
My sister got it done in Plainview and it cost her around $250. If you are interested I will try to see exactly where.

Is that really damaging to your hair?? I was thinking...i usually flat iron my hair which kills it...so if i got the japanese straightening, then i wouldnt have to flat iron it and kill it. Also when it grows in will you have 1/2 curl 1/2 straight...or do you go every so often?

Re: japanese hair straightening
i go every 6 months. it dosent damage your hair as long as they only put the chemical on the roots growing in and not the bottom of the hair

It doesn't damage your hair if you go to a reputable place. I have had it done twice in over two years. However, I just got my hair cut at Nubest this weekend. The owner (who is also the creator of all of those artec and kiwi products) told me not to get it done again. He said that straight look is no longer in style.

I guess that works out well for me since i have naturally curly hair...but I still like it straight...but I'm afraid to have it done. I think a lot of people will still be wearing their hair straight for a looong time.

Re: japanese hair straightening
I do the Japanese straightening and go to a Japanese salon in NYC. They are wonderful and my hair is very healthy (not dead looking or limp).
I will never stop straightening my hair...the alternative is horrible. Kinky, frizzy, curly hair...if I had nice curly hair I would never do this process.

Re: japanese hair straightening
My hair isn't really curly, just thick and wavy and I have a lot of fly-aways and sometimes frizz. If I could, I'd flat iron my hair every day but it is too time consuming. Would japanese hair straightening be worth it for me or is there something else you'd recommend? I'm just not sure if this is something that only people with really curly hair get done. TIA
