Re: Japanese Straightening
Hair Village in Woodside Queens has an underground cult following. Its ridiculously cheaper than any where else. I can't speak for them- I looked into it, but then decided not to straighten it.

omg i thats where i went! someone i know got it done there and told me to go, it was llike 150ish i had shoulder length at the time
i would seriously think long and hard about if you really want this, i totally would never get it done again, yes you are able to just walk out of the house and your hair dries really nice BUT youre hair literally just hangs, you cant do anything to it, i tried to use a curling iron once and it doesnt stay, just some advice

I forgot to add. Her prices are about $200, really depends on length and thickness of your hair.

This is good advice. Anytime you are going to completely alter anything you should really think twice. I have had my straightened for years. When I curl my hair with a curling iron it DOES stay. But I know many people who do the straightening have had this problem. It all depends on the type of hair you have.
When my cousin first got it done she complained that it was too flat. I don't think she will do it again either.

i did it here and my sisters has done it here a couple of times
I think it is perfect if you have curly hair. I have wavy hair and it did nothing.

I get it done at Hayato-NY in the city. They charge 265 and they are all from Japan & specialize in this straightening process as opposed to some other salons that may have just learned it to keep up with competition. I've been going there for 4 years and love it because my hair was frizzy before and is not AT ALL anymore.. so healthy and shiny. It is true that it will be hard to style your hair any way but straight.. but that's worth it to me!
There's a bunch of girls on here that go to the same place.. seach LIW for hayato.

I used to go here too. My stylist was Toshi and I loved him! When he moved back to Japan I found a new place.

Re: Japanese Straightening
My sister had it done a few years ago... the salon has since been bought out and renamed... but she has LONG thick CURLY hair and it cost her just under $500. And yeah it made life much easier but like some other girls have said it would just hang there and it wouldn't do anything. Also once it starts to grow in you have to get it touched up or you will have crazy straight hair and wavy roots. I was going to have it done but then when I saw how often she had to have her roots touched up I opted not to.
