Jar Food - All of a sudden she has decided she doesn't ...

want to eat it... I started giving jar foods around 6 months or so - and Live loved them. Now she's 9 months and starting this week she pushes my had away (with the food on the spoon) which then goes everywhere and Mom gets frustrated (trying to get ready for work and all)
I went home for lunch today to feed her...
It's not that she's not hungry b/c she will eat cheese toast - but if she sees that spoon heading in her direction - watch out
Has this happened to anyone else?
I know everyone is going to say just give her real food and stop giving her the jared food - it's just that I work and it's so much easier giving her the jared food -
My question is -
Is this just a faze or does my Babe not like jared food?
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this?

it may be that she doesnt want that mushy stuff anymore...
does she eat off the spoon if you are feeding her your food? (mash potatoes, shredded chicken, mushed up meatballs, soup, yogurt?)

otherwise, maybe its the spoon?? ( i know that sounds wierd to me too)

I understand the ease of using jarred food- we use it for day care every day...and send snacks like pieces of cheese, yogurt, chopped apples, etc)

It's NOT that she's not hungry and it's NOT that she doesn't want mushy stuff (although it could partially be that she's tiring of it, IF you have given her tastes of table food)....she's 9 mos. old? This means that she's more interested in just about EVERYTHING else that's going on around her! It is TOTALLY normal, and every infant goes through this stage.

What we did? We found one of Paul's favorite toys that he often became engossed in, and made sure it was on his tray while we tried to feed him...distracting him worked like a charm!!! Babies are very intrigued by stacking cups/toys, so you might try something like that. Good luck!

My daughter started refusing jarred food around that age too. At her 9 month appt. the dr. said it was OK to add more table foods. Oddly enough, she still took yogurt . I guess she knows yogurt is not baby food. She has since given up cereal too. She will be 11 months next week.

Thank you everyone....

it makes me feel better reading everyone's posts - I know that sounds weird but just hearing that other babies are doing it too

Not just mine

Try to get her a 'big girl' spoon too.Maybe she will like using it herself a bit. You can even take the food out of jar and put it in a 'big girl' bowl.
but like Claud said, others things are much more important than food...at least for now...
