Jason Giambi tests for a potentially fatal disease

Not sure if all you Yankee fans are aware of this. They still don't know whats wrong with him... as he is still feeling weak.

Me personally... I call it 'Rhoids Withdrawal'.

Well with all kidding aside.. he is going to see a specialist. I am curious to find out what the deal is with him.

Hopefully he can be treated successfully.
Even though he plays for a team that I basically loathe, I want him to be OK. He has talent.. and no one wants to see anyone sick.

I'm hoping he'll be fine. I know people who have his autograph and they said he was a really down to earth good guy.

Dh (a yanks fan) and I (mets fan) both said the same thing this weekend.

I do hope all is fine and they figure out what is wrong - the stuff they are throwing around is some scary stuff...

Wow, that is terrible. His wife had been rushed in for the same problem about a week after they found it in him but I never heard any other updates on her. Hope they're both ok!

Can someone explain to me why sports stars or celebrities lose their rights to medical privacy when they become famous?

I hate that his personal medical issues have to be aired for all to know. Why is it anyone's business?

(This has nothing to do with any of you...I said this when I saw it on the news earlier.)

Because unfortunately... baseball is a business. I am not even a Yankee fan... but you gotta look at it this way.

Think of the season ticket holders as the 'shareholders' for a company. They will want to know (and IMO they SHOULD know) why the Yankees are not putting their best team forward (when he sits).

I understand the concern as to why he's not playing, but the details of his medical condition should be known only by him and his family, and, if necessary, his bosses (not the fans).

I just feel bad for celebrities who go through personal stuff and can't maintain even a modecum of privacy in their lives to deal with it.

I posted this on the Yankee board but that board seems to be pretty dead lately.

As far as his privacy goes I think they keep a lot of things private and if he didn't want people to know specifics he could probably keep it out of the news. But that's also something that comes along with playing in NY. The media is around you more and they want to know why a guy who makes 16 million a year hasn't been able to play for close to 2 months.

I wish they could keep things more private but at the same time thats a price that comes along with fame and fortune. I just hope he's ok. I thought it might have something to do with not being on steriods but he was off them last year as well and he didn't have this kind of withdrawal.
