Re: Jazz for Cocktail Music?
I had a jazz trio for my cocktail hour... for a DJ I would suggest a lot of standards: anything by ella fitzgerald, frank sinatra, tony bennett, dean martin, diana krall (she's a really good, young jazz singer on the scene right now).
As far as a 'list' of songs- All of Me s'wonderful Night & Day Beyond the Sea I've got a crush on you Our love is here to stay a fine romance I won't dance From this moment on I get a kick out of you Best is yet to come You'd be so nice Fly me to the moon

It depends what kind of jazz you like. Miles Davis and Charlie Parker are good. Miles Davis played the trumpet and Charlie Parker played the saxophone. It's pretty upbeat jazz. If you like it on the lighter side, maybe something along the lines of Kenny G. We are having jazz during our cocktail hour as well.

I am having a Jazz trio for my wedding ... my brother and two friends are playing for 20 minutes or so ... they sound great and I love the idea of some original music in the cocktail!

wynton marseles (sp) is great - he is so amazing. 2 Xmas's ago the Lincoln center did the nutcraker with a traditional music orchestra playing a piece and then the jazz orchestra playing the same piece - it was excellent
