JAZZ TRIO vs STEEL DRUM BAND (w/ poll)

For the CH???? One hand- Steel Drums- fun & different, gets the party going
On the other hand- Jazz trio- fun and very classy...don't know what direction to go in

Jess... you strike me as a steel drum kinda broad.

If you're CH is indoor/outdoor, I would def. do steel drums and put them outside... it's really nice and if I was having a spring/summer wedding, I wouldn't think twice about doing steel drums!

for my BILs wedding two years ago the whole bridal party chipped in as a wedding present to the bride and groom and got them a steel drum band for CH- it was great and it was only $450 for the hour for 3 people to play. I think the band name was Calypso? they were great!!!!

I picked Jazz Trio, probably b/c I went on a cruise with FH and his whole family, and they played steel drums NONSTOP and we got really sick of it haha....but if you like it, go for it!

I am doing a steel drum band. It fit with the whole beach wedding theme. Good luck with your decision.

Yea see i would def dig the Steel drums- i think it would be nice for FF, but I'm not sure if I should go more of the classy route and try to do something more elegant. FBIL had a jazz trio and they were AWESOME. It was a really nice touch. The CH will be most indoor but its FF so its kinda that outdoor jungle vibe...idk

I love the idea of a steel drum band! I am just burning a cd of songs we like for the CH that won't be played by our band during the reception, and it's also super cheap but if I had the money I would consider a steel drum band.

we are doing steel drum band for CH, then pianist at ceremony and sax and drums in addition to the DJ for reception. i love steel drums

YEa its so split...i think i need to hear demos. I love them both but they're very different. It changes the tone either way. One's more of a party vibe and the other is more of a classy elegant type of thing. I'll see what my parents think. So far actually FH is leaning toward the jazz. I think its more his style. I just love the steel drums, i think it would be a hands down winner if it was more toward the summer and not in the spring.... I suuck...

i like steel drum - if we werent having a christmas/winter wedding we DEF would have had a steel drum band instead of a string trio

I say Jazz Trio...when I think Steel Drum Band I automatically envision a beach wedding....or the water etc.

i got married at flowerfield and had a calypso band. fit the room so well. i used islandboysband. islandboysband.com. they were beyond amazing! fm me if u have ?'s.....

Naaa...it would be through Pat Davis...i think its jsut him doing the steel drums, but he also offered a jazz trio instead....I think FH is leaning toward the jazz anyway
