JennLC's Log

Okay, I am going to start the healthy eating and exercising thing tomorrow. I have been trying to do this for about, let's say, 5 years and have not succeeded in keeping up with it.

My goals are to lose about 5 pounds and to tone my body. I know that doesn't sound like much, but it seems that these 5 pounds are the hardest to get rid of. I would also like to change my eating habits into more healthy ones that I can keep up with for the rest of my life.

Stand by for my daily logs. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Re: JennLC's Log

I'm reading the book, 'Get With the Program', by Bob Greene and it is giving some good tips. He is Oprah's personal trainer/nutrionist. Some of his ideas are:
1. Eat breakfast to jump start your metabolism
2. Make a cut-off time in the evening that you will not eat after so that you are not going to bed with calories that will not be burned off while sleeping

That's as far as I have gotten in the book so I'm not sure what the next steps are.

Monday January 20, 2003

Pre-exercise Snack:
water
clementine

Breakfast:
water
1/2 glass of skim milk
two whole wheat eggo waffles with lite maple syrup

Snack:
water
lemon yogurt
Multi-grain cheerios with pecans

Lunch:
water
pea soup with carrots and ham
red delicious apple

Snack:
water
one bite of a banana (it was too mushy to eat)

Dinner:
water
Taco Bell Mexican Pizza and Hard Taco Supreme

I walked for 25 minutes and did arm exercises with weights: bicep curls, tricep curls, pushups, etc.

One of the other steps in Bob Greene's book is to redistribute your calories during your meals. He says to eat a big breakfast, medium lunch, and small dinner. This way you burn off most of the calories and fat you have eaten through the day and don't have too much to burn off in the evening.

Thanks Natasha! This board is such an inspiration. Even just knowing that I have to post my exercise and food for the day makes me want to try harder. Hope everyone else gets motivated by coming on here!
