they told me i need to bring the binder with me for our semi final...do i really need to re-write my guest list alphabetically onto that list in the binder??? what do they need the binder for?

i didnt bring my binder but yes i did have to write all the guests names alphabetically. My maitre'd just gave me a sheet to do this

i did bring my binder but they never asked for it. they did give a sheet to write your guests on- a couple of sheets to be filled out but not for this meeting - u fill them out for your next meeting - they will schedule that next meeting with you at this meeting - the next one u bring all your favors, placecards and the paperwork they ask for and u meet your maitre D

i had about 270 so yeah can be a pain but its for a good reason.
This way in case a placecard is missing or someone doesnt know where they are sitting, the person working by the placecard table can look up their name and see what table they are sitting at.
This happened at my wedding, a placecard was missing so worked out
also this past weekend i went to a wedding and DH and i couldnt find our placecard, somebody must've taken it by mistake or who knows. DH's brother who got there before us had luckily seen our placecard when he picked up his and saw we were at the same table so he just told us what table we were at. But otherwise we would've just had to ask someone who worked there and they could've told us off of the list

if i knew the guests name then yes i put them on the list alphabetically and not next to their SO, bc then it will just get confusing bc you'll have alot of names not in alphabetical order
if you dont know the name then you would just put and guest next to their name i guess

I would imagine if you don't know the name of the person's guest you would put and guest so they know it's the person plus 1.

yeah thats how it would be done. I made sure to find out the names of all my 'and guests' so didnt have to do this but otherwise put a +1 guest next to the persons name who is bringing them

I printed a list for my RH alphabetically from Excel, it was a lot easier to do than re-writing each person on the sheets they gave. They also had to use the sheet for my wedding because a placecard went missing.
