Jersey Girls - Can you tell me about the Cranford/Scotch Plains area?

DH and I were in the area briefly on Saturday and loved it. I looked online and the houses seem really affordable. We have a friend who grew up in Scotch Plains and loves it. He will show us around there next month or so. I just wanted to see if anyone here had any input into the area. Thanks.

I don't know that much about those areas but I live closeby and those areas are very nice. The taxes aren't that bad and the schools are good. I really like it there!

I know alot about Westfield. The schools are great and it is such a cute little town. There are lots of doctors located in Westfield too as well as temples and churches. Good shopping and great places to eat. The commute to NYC is a bit of a pain only because you have to change trains in Newark. But other than that, it's not really that bad and I think takes about 45-50 min to get to NYC total. I love Westfield!

I heard Westfield is $$. Right now we are on LI (Babylon area) and looking to get out. We are going to head down to that area the second weekend of December to check it out. I am so excited!

We have lived in Scotch Plains since May. I also love Westfield, but it is very pricey. There is also a parking issue at the Westfield train station if you need to commute to NY.

My old boss lived in Cranford - from what I heard it is a great town and decent commute to NYC.

My parents have friends that live in the Westfield area - it is a lovely town but very pricey - they just sold their 3 br smallish colonial for 800k.

I looked in Cranford many years ago when I was apt. hunting....loved it there. For other reasons...I wound up more north in Bergen County...but Scotch Plains and Cranford are both really nice.
