Jet Fans?

Jet Fans?

I wasn't on here last football season so I'm not sure if there's much of a following on the boards. Anyway, I got an email from the Jets today that they signed Quincy Carter, I thought it was really funny! Why didn't they just make the freaking trade Testaverde for Carter back in June??

Re: Jet Fans?

Yay Don!!! I thought you may be given how big a Met fan you are.

Here's the text of the email:

Dear Eileen,

The New York Jets announced today they have signed four-year NFL veteran quarterback Quincy Carter. Terms of the contract were not announced. The announcement was made by Jets' General Manager Terry Bradway.

Carter, 6-2, 213 pounds, has started every game he has played in on the NFL level, totaling 31 games. He entered the NFL in 2001 following his junior season at the University of Georgia as a second-round draft choice (53rd selection overall) of the Dallas Cowboys. A native of Decatur, Georgia, Carter has 902 career pass attempts, with 507 completions (56.2 comp. pct.) for 5,839 yards, 29 touchdowns, 36 interceptions and a passer rating of 70.0. He has also rushed the ball 140 times for 498 yards (3.6 avg.) and three touchdowns, and has compiled a 16-15 record as a starter in regular season games.

As a rookie in 2001, Carter, 26, went to training camp competing with Tony Banks for the starting job. Midway through camp, Banks was released and Carter was named the successor to Troy Aikman, who had retired following the 2000 season. Despite missing eight games with thumb and hamstring injuries, he completed 90 of 176 passes for 1,072 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions.

In 2002, Carter led Dallas to a three-and-four record before being replaced by rookie signal-caller Chad Hutchinson. Carter completed 125 of 221 passes for 1,465 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions while in the starting lineup.

Last season (2003), the Cowboys went 10-6 with Carter as the starting quarterback and returned to the playoffs for the first time since 1999. In his 16 starts, he threw for a career-high 3,302 yards, with 17 touchdowns and 21 interceptions (both career-highs). Carter was released by the Cowboys on August 4, 2004.

You're talking to die-hard Testaverde fan who, regardless of reason, will not change her mind. I think under Parcells he'll be really good again.

Hmmm - I just realized, the Jets already had 3 QBs. Bollinger's been hurt a lot - you think they'll let him go?

I'm a huge Jets fan and I just saw this on Jetsinsider.com....I was a little shocked but I guess he's a decent backup...I def dont want Chad to get hurt..then I heard that they don't want to resign Abe...he better have a breakout year!!!
