Jewelry help

I need help!!! My mom wants to buy me a string of pearls to wear. I just don't know if pearls really go with my dress.

If you can't see the pic well, it is strapless, with clear bugle beads forming an ivy pattern at the top, 'trickling' down til about the the waist. Sheer duster has the same type of beads. No pearls on the dress. I know pearls are traditional, but what if they just don't match?


Someone told me that becasue of the beading at the top I don't even need a necklace really, just long earrings would work. Any suggestions?

Personally, I think that if you were just wearing a strapless with nothign over it, then a necklace would be perfect, I just think a pearl necklace might add too much bulk up around the neck. JMO.
ETA: I like what she has on in the picture. It's simple, so it doesn't add too much weight.
