Jewish and Interfaith Brides - Invitations Questions
1) How are you incorporating Hebrew and or Jewish elements (Hebrew names, Jewish year, etc?)
2) If interfaith, are you indication on the invitation that the ceremony is interfaith. The reason I ask this is that my ceremony is in church, but I want the Jewish side of the family to know it's an interfaith ceremony.

I am having a jewish wedding and I am thinking about getting menu cards from documentsanddesigns.com that have jewish designs on them
Re: Jewish and Interfaith Brides - Invitations Questions
we are doing interfaith and having it in whats called a unitarian congregation but in reality, yes it is a church however its a demonination of christiatinty that actually teaches from many different religions. so the congregation in itself signifies that its an interfaith ceremony however we are doing a wine ceremoy rather than a unity candle, no hebrew speaking at all and not a traditional blessing over wine or anything, its just 2 different wines poured from 2 glasses into one mutual glass. we are doing the breaking of the glass at the end as well. i feel like since there is no hebrew however and no yarmulkas or anything, that in intself is the christian part of the ceremony if that makes any sense plus the fact that its in a church to be specific. as for readings, you could do one old testament and one new testament,...they do that in church anyway so its perfectly fine. we are personally doing non-demoninational readings just because they had more meaning to us.

I just mean, how are you indicating it on the invitation itself?

We're having a Jewish wedding (no interfaith) and did not put our Hebrew names on the invitations.
If i were you, i don't think i'd say anything about interfaith on the invitations though ... let them figure it out as they go along

I'm afraid it will deter people on the Jewish side who may think it's a Catholic mass. We also wanted to ut some hebrew on the invitation, maybe FH's Hebrew name (but that might be werid bc obv, I don't have one), or the date, or a quotation from song of songs or something

I would probably just tell the Jewish side verbally that they should come because it's interfaith.
I think it might look strange to put 'Interfaith Ceremony at [Church Name]' on the invitations ...

Where is this non-denomminational church? I am also having an inter-faith ceremony. My FH is catholic and I am not...just more spiritual. His fam really wants a catholic ceremony in the church but my father and I aren't that comfortable with that idea. So a non-denominational service would be ideal.

if you want to have some jewish element to let the jewish relatives know it will not be a totally christian ceremony on the invitation, how about 'ani l'dodi v'dodi li' --'I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine' (from song of songs) at the top of the invite
if your invitation company has done jewish weddings before, they should have the text in hebrew. if they do not, i can help you with that.
IMO, i would not put you fh's hebrew name on it, since you do not have one.
if you are having a chuppah in your ceremony, you can say the start time with something like this: 'chuppah at 4 o'clock'. that is another way of letting people know what time the ceremony starts.

this is a great idea .... i changed my mind - i wouldn't let people know verbally ... i would do this instead
