Jewish Brides - Breaking the Glass questions

Okay, so obviously I waited until the very last minute to buy a breaking glass. I wanted to get a pretty colored glass and put the shards into a mezuzah, but it's a bit late to order all of that right now. What did you use? Can I find a pretty glass at a Judaica store or am I better off at Crate & Barrel at this point?

HELP!!

Try yussels in Merrick or Lion Zion in Great Neck or the Jewish Museum in NYC and any one of them should have the stemless colored glass. You can just ask your caterer or officiant to wrap the shards and have your parents take them home. After the wedding you can pick out the case so you don't feel so rushed now. Honestly though, we used a lightbulb b/c it makes a much better crunch sound and I don't regret that decision at all.

Love the lightbulb idea!

Shouldn't be a problem at all. The glasses are sold separately at any Judaica store and they come in a satin bag so that the shards stay together.

I only ordered the frame to put the shards in earlier this year, it doesn't have to be done all at once.

I always thought that it was a lightbulb in the bag. Much easier to break...

We got ours at Zion Lion in New Hyde Park. they have them in all different colors. You just walk in and ask. No need to order. We plan on having ours suspended in an acrylic cube. Though it is VERY costly. We still have to frame our ketubah too!
