It's that time...I have to choose the music for our wedding processional. I know we can't use 'Here Comes the Bride' at the temple we're getting married at. I was wondering what songs people are using. I love Erev Shel Shoshanim, I think for me. But what about for the bridal party? And what about the recessional music?
TIA!!!

Re: Jewish brides - ceremony music
Hi deb,
I too would not and could not use 'here comes the bride' so I get it. Its too bad that as a little girl you hear that music, and find out as an adult you cant use it. So be it!
I am reform and have decided NOT to use traditional jewish music. I havent spoken to the Rabbi yet but cant imagine there would be any problem.
I am in musical theater and have decided to use those songs that mean the most to me for the wedding ceremony.
I am having the wedding party walk down the aisle to 'For Good' from Wicked. Its a song about friends. Then I think I am walking down to 'Love changes everything' from 'Aspects of love'.
My favorite song is 'oh sey shalom' personally. But I dont really think you can walk down the aisle to it......
Im gonna think about this and see what other girls are doing.
Hope this helps! ~S

Re: Jewish brides - ceremony music
We only used one traditional piece of jewish music, for DH, his best man and my MOH. DH's son walked down to an instrumental version of Here Comes the Sun and I walked down to a piece by the Dream Academy which was a cover of a song by the Smiths. I also considered the theme song from Sunshine from the Spotless Mind but decided it was too depressing for my wedding! We put it instead on the pre-ceremony music track that played as people were seated.
