Ok, I admit to not being a very good Jew. I was never raised overly religious, but my mom insisted we have a rabbi at the ceremony. He asked if we had a family kiddish cup, which we don't. Do I have to go out and buy one, or can I use a regular wine glass?

Re: Jewish brides- do I have to buy a kiddish cup?
I am not too religious too, and my sister gave me one for my shower with other gifts as well and we also needed a second one for the ceromony, so our rabbi bought his to the ceromony. Hope this helps.

I am in the same boat-- and I have actually been looking on certain web sites- for like a jewish wedding kit if sorts.. Kiddish cup, glass, etc. I think you need to use a regular kiddish cup.. my thoughts are- that this can be the cup we use when we host Passover sedars, etc. That would certainly be the only time I would see a need to bust out a kiddish cup.

We used my MIL's cup. We also could have used the one my DH used at his bar mitzvah.
They can get kinda pricey!

That's just it. I don't really want to spend $200 on a cup I probably won't be using again. If I can get away with using a regular wine glass than I will.

we were told that we needed to bring a kiddish cup, kosher wine and a lightbulb to our ceremony

I put one on my registry and someone bought it. It was about $72 + shipping. Here's a pic:
I LOVE it, it looks better in person.

I did not have to supply my own kiddush cup. We got married at a Jewish Center, which is where the reception was as well. We used a regular wine glass.
