Jewish Brides - Kiddush cup question

Did you get a new kiddush cup for your wedding ceremony or did you use one that you already had?

I wanted to buy a new one that was special for our wedding, but DH insisted that we use the one he was given for his bar mitzvah which was never used.

I would have liked to have picked out a prettier one and had it just be for our day.

What is normally done?

i think it's totally up to you.

my dad bought me one from Israel as a gift so we ended up using that ... but if he hadn't, i would've used something i already had, i think.

we used my great grandfathers kiddush cup.
You can do whatever you prefer. Our Rabbi made mention of the kiddush cup in the ceremony so it was nice to be able to say its a family heirloom.

Thanks. Sounds like it's a mix. I was curious. I assumed that since it's a special item for the wedding you'd buy a new one. In the end, i guess it was one less thing to buy!

We didn't have a kiddush cup, so our rabbi brought one for us, so we just used his. I don't think it matters.
