Jewish Brides - Who's doing the blessing over the challah?

FH and I have no old relatives: no grandparents, great-uncles, no older cousins in our families. FH's uncle is only about ten years older than our parents. My mom suggested that my dad and FFIL do the blessing of the challah together. FFIL thinks FH's uncle should do it. Suggestions?

Thanks!

we're having FH grandfather do it. I think the idea with both fathers is nice. Good luck!

I had my Uncle do the blessing, with my Grandfather by his side. My Uncle is not that much older than my Dad. My Dad also went up, to help my Grandfather ...

ETA: Our wedding was interfaith, so there was no reason to include someone from DH's family in this ...

We had my grandfather do it, but I think that would be nice to have both of the fathers do it.

We had no grandparents left ( ) so our dads did the blessing together.

I'm not Jewish...and the oldest Jewish male family member is FH's dad. FH wants to do it himself! I need to convince him not to. Hopefully we can talk to our rabbi about this.

My SIL's DH is Jewish and his grandfather did the blessing over the challah and their interfaith wedding.

I would say have your dad do it

I want to have the dads do it, but FH's father feels like it's inappropriate. I like FH's uncle a lot, but I want someone from my side up there also. And I really don't want to hurt my father's feelings.

I had an interfaith - My bro did the challah - My grandfather really isn't religious, my dad had a stroke and was not comfortable doing it in front of everyone...i have no uncles that were there so I had my brother do it. I also had my oldest cousin do the blessing over the wine.

Traditionally, it is the oldest member of the family on either side (we had DH's uncle do it).

Otherwise, there is no rules as to who can cut the challah. I think the dads doing the challah is a wonderful idea. And if FH's uncle really wants to participate, why not have his uncle do a kiddush after the challah is cut? Because DH's uncle did the hamotzi, my uncle did the kiddush and it was really nice.

Hope that was somewhat helpful!
