Ok so my friend is Jewish, and I just wrote to her telling her how amazing she was on my wedding day and that she was like an angel the way she took care of everything. I actually even bought the angel charm for her Pandora bracelet and was going to send it to her, but this is what she wrote in response to me calling her an angel.
'I'll take the angel compliment (or jewish fairy? haha) but only b/c it sounds super important!'
Silly question, but is it bad for me to send her an angel? I never even thought anything about religion with that one.
Thanks!

Re: Jewish Girls- NWR
She probably won't be offended but angels are typically not Jewish-ish, at least IMO.
I'm sure she will appreciate the gesture though, but maybe a different charm?

I wouldn't take offense if anyone sent me an angel charm, but I probably wouldn't wear it.

I'm not Jewish, but I actually had this same dilemma. FH & I bought his Grandma, who is Jewish, an angel statue for the holidays. I was concerned at first when I realized that an angel isn't really an appropriate gift for someone who is Jewish. However, when she opened it, she had tears in her eyes and she said it was so beautiful, and she keeps it in her living room on display.
That being said, I'd say she is somewhere between conservative and Reformed....so that is probably why she was fine with it. I don't think everyone would be.

I'm fairly observant and while I absolutely would NOT be offended (the opposite- what a lovely compliment) I too wouldn't wear an angel. A star might be a nice alternative (doesn't need to be a Star of David, any star is fine) and shows a similar sentiment 'you were such a star on my big day'
HTH!

i do agree that angels aren't supposed to be associated with relgion, but i think they kind of are anyhow.
i also wouldn't be offended and would really appreciate the gesture, but i would not wear an angel.

I wouldn't be offended. I think angels are VERY pretty BUT I wouldn't wear an angel. I say go with a different charm.

Ok, thanks girls. She's definitely reformed so I never even thought of it, but I'll look for the star. That's a good idea. Thanks for the input.
