I think its the breaking of the glass...but I could be wrong.
the 'you are consecrated to me' declaration, then wine, then glass...there are other details in between but it's all dependent on conservative, reform, etc.
just went over this with my Rabbi yesterday. once the ketubbah is signed you are husband and wife. the ceremony is about blessing and confirming your marriage. You will exchange rings, and then there will be a few more things (depends on reform, conserv, ortho) the last thing is you break the glass and kiss. there is no 'i now pronounce...you may now kiss the bride' in a Jewish wedding
My friend got married this summer - he's Irish catholic, she's jewish - and had their ceremony at the venue. Since it wasn't a 'real' catholic ceremony, and only borrowed the glass breaking from the Jewish ceremony, their officiant did the kiss your bride announcement first. After their first (and second and third lol) official married kisses, then James broke the glass.
I kinda like the breaking the glass before the pronouncement...
I think they tend to do it after because you break the glass to signify that your new marriage will last until the pieces rejoin themselves. Though it would make a snappy ending to the whole ceremony!
Yeah, I can't decide which way I want to do it!!!
I just really like the big kiss to be the last thing we do before walking back down the aisle
