I know how you feel.. we haven't even discussed our invites and we've touched at the invite list.. but FMIL wants to invite her cousins from Italy.. and their YOUNG kids and we have a 'no young kids' (besides the BP) at the wedding policy. its not fair to invite these people I'VE never met (and FH hasn't seen in 10+ years) and their kids but not invite FH's cousins kids.... I mean, we don't want any kids.. but I KNOW that will be an issue.
I told her that if she wants those kids there, SHE can watch them in the added bridal suite, they will NOT enter the reception. I don't care how 'civilized' these children are.. I don't want them.
I'd tell your FMIL that she can pay for their plates as they are HER guests and you did not want to invite them.

My FMIL just did the same thing. We finally got her list and as were going through it shes like 'this person won't come' and 'neither will that one' so she wants me to just send some invites to her B list since she KNOWS people are going to say no. I am refusing because i figured something like this would happen. Honestly she should have to pay for them now!!!

I am getting that with my parents for a few people too. I know one couple who I dont want there but 'we have to invite' will defiantely say yes- even though my dad said they probably wont come. i am so not looking foward to this!

thats exactly what my parents and FMIL are doing to us right now 'we're need to be respectful'
so its either I wont make my min b/c of all of these extra ppl as they say wont come, or it will be me scrambling around trying to figure out how to pay for all of these 'not-coming-for-sure-but-in-reality-coming' peeps

I am telling my parents and FH's parents that if they want any extra people beyond family then they can pay for them. I might give my parents a few guests b/c they are contributing a small amt but not for FH's parents. We are paying for most of the wedding ourselves and can't afford their random work friends that we have never met!
Wow thats very annoying. My dad was nice enough to offer to pay for the people they want to invite...
