Job Interview Question- UPDATE!

So I had an interview this past Friday and I thought it went pretty well. The interviewer said she had some more people to interview and would most likely know at the end of this week (meaning this Friday). So I went home and wrote her a thank you note which I always do and figured I woudlnt hear anything yet. I just saw that I had a missed call from the company but NO voice message. I thought that was weird- like maybe it was a mistake? So I called back but the interviewer wasnt available and left a message saying that I received a missed call. Is that strange? Has this happened to anyone? Do you think they were calling to tell me I didnt get the position that quickly? Lol im soooo confused! And now I'm just waiting to hopefully hear back.

Update: It must have been a mistake because I have not heard back from the employer and I dont want to call again to look desperate lol. Oh well.

Re: Job Interview Question

I think it's a little strange that they wouldn't leave a voicemail, but I wouldn't infer anything from it - maybe she just wanted to share the good news with you over the phone and not just leave a message on your voicemail!

Re: Job Interview Question

I'm in HR ..

if I was calling to make an offer, I wouldn't leave it on a message .. but I would at least leave one and ask them to call me back!

It could be that they loved you and didn't want to interview anyone else .. it could have been a mistake .. it could have been them calling because they needed additional info .. honestly, it could be anything really.

Try not to think about ... but hopefully it WILL be good news soon enough. Keep us posted! :)

Re: Job Interview Question

I had this happen to me for my field placement at an agency. The person in HR did call but did not leave a voicemail. I called back, and the guy told me 'Yeah, I called you and I wanted to see if you wanted to come in for an interview'. I said it would have been helpful if you left a voicemail stating this. Needless to say, I didn't take their placement. It just totally turned me off.

I'm in HR too! she wouldn't make an offer via VM- maybe it was to schedule another round of inteviews? or to get your references?

Did they call back or did you get in touch with anyone again?

Thats weird that they didn't leave you a voicemail. Check your email - in the spam folder - sometimes emails can default there and not hit your Blackberry / iPhone - whatever other smart phones there are out there. etc.

I work in HR as well - it's a little weird that they wouldn't leave a voicemail asking you to call back but sometimes we would rather speak to the candidate in person rather than leave an offer/rejection message via voicemail. I personally have and would never leave an offer message on the voicemail.

Re: Job Interview Question

Hey, maybe she had an urgent phone call that she had to take and didn't have time to leave you a vm. I know from experience that I have to hang up while calling someone when I get paged or there's an emergency, which could explain the woman not being available when you called back.
