I am currently at a job where I am just plain miserable. It is so bad I called in sick today! I have no other choice but to quit. The thing that bothers me most is I am so miserable I am having a very hard time being happy during this wonderful time in my life! I feel like I have spent the past seven months of my engagement stressed. To make matters worse, I know how bad the job market is and we will be paying for most of the wedding ourselves! Does anyone else feel similarly? How do you deal? Thanks for letting me vent!

Re: Job misery! Anyone else?
FH is having the same problem. He has been trying to find a new job, but no luck so far. He is just cranky all the time - he doesn't deal with stress well!

MANY people on here feel that way! No job is worth making yourself sick over. And if you are staying home it's time to go. Can you afford to be out of work for a little while?

I probably could afford it; but not for very long! This job market is so unpredictable! That is what is so scary to me!

Thank you ladies; I feel for anybody who is or has been in this situation! Someone's job is such a major part of their life! It is definitely where you spend the most time! Its important to be happy!

Re: Job misery! Anyone else?
Kathleen... I went through this with my first job. I was so miserable I was put on medication. it was pretty bad. (I had an abusive DIVA boss)
Get your resume ready and out there! Call friends, aquantances, family and see if they know of anything. Give everyone your resume.Have your friends check with friends. Let them know the situation and how badly you need out of there. It is going to take a while, but at least you have the sound mind that your resume is out there and you are ON YOUR WAY OUT! That will def. get your spirits up. Believe me it made me feel better. Just hang on a little longer! You don't want to be completey out of work. It took a month and alot of networking, but I held on. And when I got that new offer I was SOOO releived. It was over. FM me if you need any further advise or a shoulder to cry on!

Re: Job misery! Anyone else?
I've been miserable for two and a half years, so I can totally sympathize! I was at my last job for a year and I was bored to death. So then I found this job, and the project that I was on suffered some major budget cuts almost right after I came onboard, so there was no work to do. For a whole year I did practically nothing! I'm still with the same company but on a new project now, but again, no work to do! At least I get paid well though, so I'm thankful for that! I guess some people would love to be in my position - make good money while doing nothing (except reading LIW!)

Kathleen I can relate completely. I am counting down the days till my wedding day and month. It is a strain and it is hard to go somewhere where you spend most of your day hating where you are. I have also taken sick days just b/c. Also b/c I don't get paid for them at the end of the year and I earned those days! It seems that after lunch I feel much better. I think the fact that mentally I know I will be leaving soon, helps. Do you take lunch away from you desk? That really helps me alot. Just to get out of this hell hole for 10 minutes helps me.
