I work in insurance (health) at a large company, Have been there for almost 4 years, its easy, Im a fast learner and I am one of the best at what I do. I get a lot of extra jobs to do and not much compensation for it. It's close to my house ( 15 minutes) and we wear casual clothes everyday which is good.
There is another place ( smaller health insurance company) that is moving up the ladder quickly...they would like to get people from my current job to go there...there are about 20 people there now who have left to go there.... The pay at this place is about $5000 more a year plus overtime and a 36 hr workweek versus 40 hrs....a full hr for lunch ( I curenntly get 45 min. and no breaks) and 2 15 minute breaks... The room for advancement is greater because its EASIER then where I am currently and like I said, I am concieted enough to say , I really know what Im doing in my current position. The downside is they are still a fairly new company ( 5 yrs versus say 40) and they are far...about a 45 minutes in traffic drive...
Is the new job too good to be true? I would be leaving a LOT of friends that I consider very very close to me?
Is there something I'm missing or not thinking about? When considering leaving a job for another, what do you consider??
p.s the benefits are EXACTLY the same...

I say go for it, Donna! It's probably time for you to move on and try something (kind of) new! You have been so miserable with your job for some time now and I'm sure this is a big part as to why you've been sick so much lately! I'm behind you 100%!!!!!!!!!!!

It all depends on the type of person you are. If you prefer to have a 'comfort zone'... you may want to stay where you are.
I was a risk taker when I was younger... bouncing from job to job.
But I have 5 years in my current job that I am extremely comfortable at. I don't think I would make a job move right now, even if I was offered 20k more. But thats just me.
Good luck!
EDIT: If you don't like your current job... then obviously a move would be more practical.

I agree, if you really think you've done all you can at your current job and are not happy, then it's time to move on.
However, with a wedding coming up, you may want to factor that in. While it's not likely that this will happen, smaller companies can either make or not and with the wedding coming up, you don't to be put in a situation where you are sweating it out
