First I want to say, that some people have criticized the family for 'pimping out the kids'. My personal opinion on this is...parents need to work to make money to support their family, a big challenge facing parents is that they can not afford to stay home and not work and it's difficult to find a job that will allow you to work from home, especially a well paying job. If the opportunity was given to many parents to do this, they would jump on it and it would be such a relief to know they could afford to take care of their children while making sure they could care for them as best as possible and not have to have someone take care of them and also incur a cost as well. If the kids were on the show alone, number one, and number two if they were being made to do something besides carry on their normal activites, I could see this as so called 'pimping out the kids' but this is obviously far from the case and obviously the parents have put them self as the center of attention as well since they have been shown as a family. As far as them going on vacations, etc. I think every parent hopes to make enough money to not only cover food and shelter but also to be able to take their kids on vacation and do some things that are not part of their everyday life. I dont think they should be criticized for taking some extra money they may have saved up or whatever and using it for something nice for their kids and themself.
Noone will ever know the whole story and what their relationship was before the show, during the earlier episodes of the show or now. It appears that the publicity and fame that the parents have gotten off of the show, Jon is obviously not comfortable with and could of either led their marriage down the wrong path or it could of already been on the wrong path for reasons that having nothing to do with the show but the conflict of Jon not liking this new life and Kate dealing with it and trying to make it work, created their current problems.
Yes, the episode was very very sad and I know they are contractually obligated to do another season. I guess noone knows if they couldve gotten out of it or not and what their financial responsibilities would have been if they did break it. It could've been something they just couldnt afford to do if they were to break it- who knows. Well anyway, Kate sees this as her job and her duty to continue on with it if she is obligated to do so. Jon obvously wanted out. It is what it is and although I feel like the continuation of the show is complicating matters for their marriage, it shows what millions of families go through when being seperated. The kids sometimes suffer, yes, it's terrible but something that often cant be avoided. It just simply isnt always the right choice to stay together for the kids (I know my parents divorced when I was 2 and although I went through a lot, God knows I would've been worse off if they wouldve stayed together).
And two last things...regardless of how many other people she has helping with the kids, who cares...she doesnt hide it and I think anyone who had 8 kids would also most certainly need help, and if one parent isnt going to be there 100% of the time anymore then all the more reason! Ok, here's the last thing, lol...there were times she wasnt very pleasant to him and what not but personally if my life was documented, and only certain parts were chosen to be shown on tv and the producers like to give a good story, I might also look like a biatch too, if all my bad moments were grouped together in an hour episode. Maybe, she really wasnt nice to him and maybe vica versa??? I could say though that I always find her very honest and she doesnt deny making money off the show, not being a lovey dovey couple etc, she always admits these things and imo, has good reasons to back her choices up if she must explain.
