Re: Joint accounts
We will maintain separate accounts. We may have a joint savings account but that's about it. Separate works for us. No sense in changing it. We pay our bills 50/50 then we do what we wish with the rest of our money.

Re: Joint accounts
we do not have any joint accounts. we have a few joint credit cards & some cd's. we split the bills that we currently have as even as possible.

Re: Joint accounts
We have one account and we each have a savings accout, then one joint savings account.
So far our joint checking works great, we consult each other on purchases. We are totally honest with each other.
We each have a savings that we bought $100 in every month, so we can buy what we want. Then we have a joint savings account for vacations and a house.
Sounds complicated but it works great for us.

Re: Joint accounts
Joint accounts are difficult to keep track of. So, we have seperate checking accounts, and a joint savings account. We don't touch the savings too much, so it doesn't get confusing.

I totally agree with you on that one! right now we have serperate checking accounts. We're planning on getting a joint savings/checkings account when we move together to cover monthly bills and also to put money aside to household projects and vacations. We will still keep our own seperate checking accounts though!!

Re: Joint accounts
We have a joint account...but I dont keep money in it. To be honest, I really prefer to keep money separate. It's just easier that way.

Re: Joint accounts
I see no reason for joint account.
I plan to keep my accounts, he'll keep his.
I think we might set up one account in both our names to put money for bills and whatever..
But I like having my own account.

Re: Joint accounts
You should open up a joint account. You will be getting checks made payable to both of you and will need an account to deposit them in to. I work for a bank and newly married couples don't realize that they need both of their names on an account to deposit checks written to both of them.
