Jovon or Creative Compostions photog?

Is anyone using either of them or have they spoken to them? I'm having my wedding at the Carlyle and they are the recc'd photographers. I saw on theknot.com website some pretty outragous pricing for Jovon---I'm worried I don't have enough in my budget for the pictures!! And since I'm out of town I can't shop around like everyone else can.Please help!!!

They are both awesome! And both very expensive.... but they are both wonderful. In both scenarios, you are looking in starting in mid- 4's. People typically pay 7-8 at the end with them.. However, don't let pricing guide you... A lot of girls on this board have learned painful lessons by doing that and on photography, you want to really look for yourself and price notwithstanding, go with the best. If you are going to spend, IMO, you want to do it on photography.

I am using JoVon. They were recommended by 3 people I know and I just got my engagement pictures back and couldnt be happier! I think the costs depend on what you are looking for and they are willing to work with you. Send me a forum mail if you have any questions!

Both are located in the town where I live and they are amazing! I have friends who used both and they were extremely happy with their proofs and albums - they are amazing. You will be happy with whomever your chose. JoVon also does video where Creative Compositions does not. Also, Creative Compositions charges about an extra $700 for a seperate B&W photog and only includes 1 parent album. Good luck!

Hello, Hello! As the resident endorser of Creative Compositions, I must vote in their favor! In the end, both will give you beautiful albums, but here is why I decided against JoVon if its helpful to you...

1. When I met with JoVon, I found them to be dismissive of my questions. They are quite confident in their work, and don't feel like they need to justify themselves. The attitude I got was we are the best accept it, don't ask questions. While they are quite good, I wanted my questions answered!

2. A friend of mine from high school used JoVon for her wedding. She says they were very nice to her up til the wedding day, but were unresponsive following the wedding. It took a very long time for her to get her proofs, and she didn't feel like she was treated well when she called to get updates.

So, thats what made me decide against JoVon. So, what did I love about Creative Compositions?

1. They are small. I knew everyone in the office by name, and they knew me. They were always friendly and treated my 100 questions with respect.

2. I met with my photographer before booking, and knew I would feel comfortable working with him on my wedding day. Personality mattered a lot to me!

3. In negotiating our contract, I felt they were straightforward and honest. In other places, I sometimes felt like I would be surprised with charges after the wedding....

4. The quality of their photos, albums, and reputations were outstanding. Looking through boxes of other peoples proofs (and not just finished albums - a good thing to do) made me feel confident they would give me the photos I wanted!

FYI - I actually visited about 9 photographers before I booked, and I went to 3 of them a second time before my decision was made. My wedding was in June. I used Steve for color, and Ruth for B&W photojournalism. They were professional, fun to work with, and unobtrusive at the wedding. The proofs (well over 1000) were amazing. (My in laws doubled their pre-paid album size because there were so many pictures they loved). They have been just as nice to me six months after my wedding as they were before I signed the contract. Sure they do a ton of weddings, but they will make you feel special every step of the way, which you deserve!!! I wish I had proofs online to show you how great they are... But I don't have a scanner. Let me know if you have more questions.

I used JoVon for my 11/02 wedding. I haven't gotten my proofs yet, but Forum mail me if you have specific questions.

One thing.... Jovon tends to take a very long time getting proofs and albums back to people... but if you don't mind waiting. Also, book up fast... There are certain people you want to use...
