My friend hired a julliard student to play the piano at her wedding...i think it was $75/hour...but I'm not sure if that was a special price because the student was actually the cousin of one of our friends. You might want to try craigslist too. I found a few people on there that have decent prices.

I got this contact information when I was looking about a year ago. (don't know if the contact info is still current)

Jane Cho at Juilliard.
212-799-5000 x7315.

I believe they quoted me $125/hr + transportation per musician, 2 hr minimum. Harpist was $175/hr.

I don't think the Julliard musicians are cheaper than pro musicians. We got Julliard graduates with 20+ years experience for $175/hr.

I'm working with Emily (who runs it) this Saturday - I'll keep you posted, but they are fantastic and priced about the same as other musicians.

Contact them on their website, and Emily will get back to you with their availability and an accurate quote. You can't go by what other folks on here have gotten as dates/type varies.

It's hard to tell what they'll charge because it also depends on the amount of experience they have. My friend hired a student which is probably why she didn't get charged a lot. If you know someone who knows a student you may be able to negotiate a lower price...that's if you're willing to work with someone that hasn't graduated...and if you're hiring more than one person there may be a chance they've never played together...

oh..another note..when i was going to hire the same girl to play at our wedding and see if she could gather up a few of her friends, she told me that since my wedding is in LI they'd charge extra for travel...
