Where on Hempstead Turnpike?
ETA: I know exactly where its located. My FH (who is Jewish) and I went inside the place and because it didn't look tex-mexy he wanted to leave. So I never had the chance to taste the food. Now, we are definetly going there! LOL

I do miss Chick fila! It's hilarious! Who would think that I would miss fast food! Oh yeah, Whataburger!!! I miss. YOu know X, that Corpus Christi is home of the Whataburger and we think the burgers there are tastier than any other TX city! HA HA Sonic, I miss the slushies!
IN Corpus, we had Weinerschnitzel and Schlotskys miss em too. Okay, getting to excited about food . LOL Actually, in Manhattan they have a schlotskys. MY FH and I go when I am craving there sandwiches! Rudy's Ill try going there when Im in SA next week! Hee Hee

juju: ... ahhhhh whataburger.. there's a quickie I miss!

We had them when I visited back home.. we also went to sonic.. i had to sit in the car and first explain to FH why a #1 and #2 are not meals but define whether you want mustard or Mayo on the burger.. what a concept!!!

I just LOOOOOOOOOOVE their Cherry Limeades on a Hot summer day.. Or their banana cream pie shake. Yummy!

Chic Fil A.. I owe 2 of the four collectable cows 'eat Mor Chikin'

If you go to rudys in SA .. you'll never think of BBQ or BBQ sauce the same.. I mean theres nothing like BBQ in texas..but this stuff is good.

I got family in Robstown near CC

Just got back from On the Border.. Tex Mex chain
Ok.. this is good stuff.. My Review..

appeitizer. good chile con queso..
Nice thick chips..
Salsa had a nice subtle kick.

MY DISH
I got a build your own combo
Pork Tamale - pretty large.. really good.. you could really taste the corn masa.. the pork was tender and juicy..
Beef Enchalada - tortilla was slightly chewy but nothing too horrible. beef was not over seasoned. Good
Cheese & Onion Enchalada - same tortilla issue.. but still yummy! I dont like onions but they were cooked thoroughly and so werent overpowering.. very good.
Crispy Beef Taco.. by this point I was getting stuffed.. but it's was very refreshing and light.. very clean tasting if that makes sense..
Rice - Slightly chewy.. I think it was undercooked.. I am very picky about my rice. This had corn cooked in it too. .wasnt bad.. wasnt the best.
(I never get beans)

HIS DISH
FH got blackened chicken & shrimp. I tasted both.
Chicken - DELICIOUS! moist and favorful with that crispy black on the outside in places.. yummy
Shrimp was good.. not bad.. not worth yelling about either.
Same Rice issue.
He got a soft taco..he says it was good.. refreshing.

SIDES
Tortillas: they were in my opinion too 'stretchy' I could actually pull them and lengthen them. Too much preservatives.. but good for its purposes.

No dessert..we were stuffed.
I took home leftovers

Xelindra, We came so close to going there last night! Too HIlarious! We've been there before. It's pretty good. WE ended up going next door to boulders. The Food was horrible! What time did you go? It was between the two restaurants and we opted for Boulders. WE were there around 7:30 -8:00. We probably passed by each other in the car.

South of the Border is good...I know of one on Wantagh Ave. in Levittown. Dh and I went last week and at the end of the meal the waitress gave me a rose!

Sasha, we wanted to go but we didn't know which town. Thanks. We kept seeing bumper stickers everywhere. Too funny!

We had lunch.. then we went to see the florist.

We were in Hicksville right next to the Broadway Mall. Must have been around 3-4pm.

FH says.. 'look, more hispanics are walking in.. this place must have good food' hehe He's so observant.

Both of us were happy with the food. Saturday was such a gorgeous day.. it was nice to be stuffed with Tex Mex and walk around outside for a bit. Since the florists is on Broadway, there was no parking. We had to park a bit farther away and walk over.

juju: I have never been to a Boulder Creek. heh

YOu would think that you could say 'oh there is hispanics here then it must be good' Because we said the same thing about this restaurant in Mineola and the food was horrible. There were plenty of hispanics there. hee hee. Which florist did you see in Hicksville?

Gary's Florist..
It was recommended by my photo/video.

No frills in this place. I'll tell ya that!!!! He's really affordable, but I had other options if I didnt like him. So we go in and he was about to head out to a wedding.. shows us his stuff.. impressive!!!
Good to actually SEE the work!

I am a little leary about having white in my bo-k as I didn't want any, but I saw his point. He's good. Short answers, direct and confident. It all worked out well.

South of the Border is great! I've been there a bunch of times and have yet to be disappointed. It's tiny but definitely worth the trip.
