hi girls- She is on 100% whole milk since 1/5. WE spent last week in florida when we landed on sat morning (1/10)..she had not gone while on board the plane. when we got to my sils home, she went like3x within 30 min...up her back...went through all her clothes, etc
every morning, we went through the same thing..to the extent we had to wash her clothes and bed sheets.
Just yesterday morning, she was VERY red down below..(shes also fair skinned)...and HOWLED while being changed. I coated her with destin...brought her to daycare and advised the sorkers there to change her more often...about the blowouts, etc.
GOt a call yesterday from daycare, she was still red, and howled while being changed, they asked to use destin on her..which I agreed.
last night it was less red, but she was still hurting...and i used a soft washcloth instead of wipes. went to bed at 8am...woke up at 12 midnight...and you guessed it!- she went thru her clothes again...up the back and the front....
This morning, she was realitively dry. I changed her using the washcloth, put her in a size bigger diaper, dressed her, bottle and into the swing so I could leave for work at 7am.
hubby checks on her just b4 they usually leave the house He just called she had gone ALL through her clothes again...he said he should of just bathed her .... again, uncomfortable, went thru all her clothes, etc
SO- is this the usual when changing from FORMULA to milk? I weaned her off...and her dr said she was good to go as of the 5th. Prior to that she consumed lots of whole yogurt, mozzerella and american cheese, rice pudding etc
im stumped HELP

Re: Julianne's TUSH (LONG) a bit more..
sorry had to post in 2 messages...
she has consumed whole milk products before while she was still on formula...so I dont know if this is a side effect of the milk....or is it due to coating her with the destin..does that effect the absorbancy of the diaper?
does anyone use a diff diaper for overnights?
we were a swaddlers family...but the BJ diapers worked for us...so we switched back in oct.
im stumped and feel helpless!

Re: Julianne's TUSH needs your HELP!!! (LONG)
Hi Phyl. I dont have any answers, but I can help you brainstorm IT doesnt seem like the milk would do it since you said shes had milk products with no problems. I dont think Desitin is the problem either. Has her rash gotten any better? We got a prescription cream for a bad rash once that helped alot. (let me know if you want details on it). Ive seen that Pampers (and Huggies) are better than store brands as they get older (like this age! ) as far as being stronger and more resistant, holding more, etc.
Have you asked the DRs opinion?
Lots of hugs

First off -- to you and Julianne. I just hate when they are in pain. I use both Desiten and vaseline with each and every diaper change (Ryan's skin is pretty sensitive). I haven't seen where it changes the diaper absorbancy at all.
I suggest calling the ped. It seems like a long time for it to be a milk adjustment, especially since she's had whole milk products.
My SIL told me about a cream called 'Triple Paste', which isn't prescription but you need to get through the pharmacist for very bad diaper rash.

Call her Doctor!!!! That would make me nervous! She should also be having some pedialyte. So she doesn't get dehydrated. As for the rash Aveeno cream (or bath powder) works fantastic!!!!
I hope she feels better!!

Did she ever have formula with lactose in it? Since she had other dairy products I do not think it sounds like a dairy allergy, but it could be lactose. I would call the dr. since she could also be sick. Do you have any formula left? Maybe you could switch her back for a few days and see if she improves. My only suggestion for the rash is Butt Paste available at buttpaste.com. I have never used it since Annalise never needed it, but I know many moms who love it.

TRiple Paste is the best stuff........and if at all possible leave her without a diaper for a portion of the day. The area needs to dry out before it can heal. I usually leave my nephew in his play pen that way it is just a wipe down to clean easily

I would (1) give her Pedialyte so she doesn't get dehydrated, and (2) I don't think it's an allergy at all - I think she might be sick and have a stomach bug. In that case, dairy, or rather, lactose products actually increase the problem and irritate her stomach. You will probably have to go lactose-free until she is feeling better. Either way, call her doctor, and GOOD LUCK!!!!!

J's TUSH- could it B TEETHING??
hi gals- waiting to get thru the phone lines to the drs office. will not be able to let Julianne go diaper free since she is in daycare from 8am until 530-6pm. I can allow her to go diaper free once we get home, but who wants to sit in a highchair to eat dinner an be in there butt naked??? (remember she is not getting home until 630) I guess I can sit her in there on top of a cotton diaper? dont think she will tolerate a playpen since we have never used one until we went away to fla for the holidays...and at that time, that is where she slept. (so she associates playpen=sleep and will protest sitting/laying in there if she thiks we want her in bed hours b4 her bedtime)
thanks for the product referrals. Rob actually found the last one thru his own search. want to see if the dr needs to see her...I am hoping that this is not requiring antibotics..(that means it is serious, right?)
she is not sick. an occassional runny nose..here and there... but someone mentioned it may be a side effect of teething too? She just worked on three new teeth around Xmas and has one more coming in
I guess it is the timing of the whole milk that is throwing me off ... I will let you know what the dr says...
it is sooo hard to hear her howl whenever we merely LAY her down...

If she is eating the same I doubt it's a stomach virus. Going diaperless if the best. Let the air get at her bottom. Triple paste does work wonders and keep up with the wet washclothes,no wipes!(they should also do this at day care ) If you can you could also give her an oatmeal bath when you get her home. There is nothing worse than a baby screaming in pain from a sore tush I'm sure her tushie will be all better soon. It may be from teething but still touch base with your Dr. because maybe she does have a problem with the lactose

For this to be happening with frequency and force (poor little thing!), it MUST be the milk that's doing this to her! I cannot think of anything else that would cause such a problem of that nature.
Let us know what the doctor says and how she's feeling, Phyl!

Aw, poor Julianne!!! Could it be from her teeth? The reason I ask this is because when my goddaughter was around her age, she had the same problem and it was from her teething -- she would poop up her back and through her clothes (which is what Gianna was doing the past 2 weeks).
I hope the poor baby's coolie is fine!!

update!
hi girls...
rob spoke with the dr yesterday ( things have been crazy here at work!)
Dr says that this can be expected to some degree when you put a baby on whole milk. Yes, she has had plenty of cheese, yogurt, even some ice cream...but all of that has cultures in it..and whole milk does not.
he recommended the triple paste that you all mentioned...and also 'airing' her out for 15 min at a time.
I have been using warm washclothes on her to rinse her off...and I sent a bunch to daycare. They soak them in warm water, wring them a bit...then wring them over her tush (like a sponge bath) and dab her with a wipe.
Rob picked up the triple paste last night after picking her from daycare. ( i had to stay late for a damn management meeting! )
he then took her home, gave a bottle, changed her (no blow out), pasted her, fed her dinner (she didnt want much). She must have felt better becuase she was in a great mood playing with daddy......close to 730 she was rubbing her eyes. he bottled her again, pjs and put her to bed.
I didnt get to see her until this morning!
Well this morning, she really didnt want to get up at 615. (do I blame her?? ) I changed her- no poop- warm washcloth...and things looked a lot better down there. YAY!
will see what the update is from rob. He takes her to daycare...so I will see if she had another blowout or not.
thanks for all the advice... again, dr said it wasn't a virus, wasn't an allergy ...but if it perisisted another few days without any relent , to take her in.
Im trying to give her less dairy products in the meantime.
Boy- I guess it is time to buy the GALLON of milk at the supermarket!
hugs girls- XOXO
