Maroma Resort and Spa, Mexico - A+
I had no idea where we were going for our HM until we reached the ticket counter at the airport the Monday after our wedding! DH did an excellent job planning this HM! It is about 20 miles south of Cancun. Maroma does not advertise at all - DH heard about this place from a colleague and it was ranked the #1 resort on the Travel Channel. There are only 36 rooms in the whole resort and if we saw more than 6 people in the ocean, it was a lot! We think there are more staff members than guests! The waiters and bartenders spoke with us and made sure they knew our names. The only thing to do there was sit on the beach, play in the water, read, drink, and get down with the DH! We had a couple's massage in a little hut on the beach and all you could hear were the waves crashing - so relaxing! We had a little drama Thursday evening when Tropical Storm Claudette paid a visit, but she didn't stay too long. She was supposed to become a hurricane and hit the Yucatan Peninsula (where we were) sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning, but instead took a northerly direction and lost some wind gusts. It was pretty windy and rainy Thursday night. We did lose about 1 1/2 days of beach sitting, but that was okay. Instead, we sat on our balcony that overlooked the ocean, and watch the storm over pina coladas. This was the perfect honeymoon for us!
I will post pictures at a later time when we get some! Thank you for all of your help planning our wedding! DH asked me whether our wedding day turned out to be everything I imagined, and it was (and more so!)
