Jumping in head first...
Hi!
I just wanted to introduce myself, since I've been reading the boards for a few months now but only got engaged 10 days ago. He proposed from the top of the Wonder Wheel in Coney Island, which was very exciting.
I was worried about dates initially, because both a family member and a friend are getting married in Sept/Oct of 08. I had always wanted a September wedding, but figured it would just be too much stress on my family (and us!) I also didn't want to take away from the special-ness of any one wedding (including my own!) by bunching them all together.
Anyway, we visited our first hall, the Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling, on Saturday. I'd already fallen in love with it via Internet, but wanted to see it in person. The hall only had one Saturday day available in June, and it happened to be one of the few days the band my FH desperately wants was available. So I hemmed and hawed and worried about booking the first place I saw, but my friends and family told me to just do it. So I did. I booked the band two. They were our 2 major priorities, and I just booked them both today. My head is still spinning!
I just felt like I was coming late to the game if I wanted to get married in June, so I'm playing catch up. The boards have been SO helpful in getting me to the point where I could book a hall... so thank you to everyone who's ever posted a price quote, an opinion of a friend's wedding, or a review! You girls are the best!
I look forward to being a member of the boards.![]()
