JUNE '09 WEDDING @ Beckwith Pointe!

JUNE '09 WEDDING @ Beckwith Pointe!

Does anyone have any tips on how I should go about making sure everything is elegant and perfect at this location?

I read some not so good reviews on this site and I am going to be in the 'small room' at this location as I only have 100 people at my wedding.

They also required that I have a MINIMUM of 100 ppl, but I am seeing that others were able to book less. Any suggestions from those who had functions there recently would be great!

Well, what was not so good about the reviews you've heard? You should voice your concerns with your banquet manager and hopefully they can do something to ease your nervousness!

I'm not sure of the bad reviews you have heard. I've never been to a wedding there but as an event planner myself here is some advise.

Make sure you have everything you want done written down. Go over it with them in detail and give them a copy. Don't assume they understand exactly what your talking about, make sure they can repeat what you want in detail. I'm not sure if you are having a DOC (day of coordinator) or not but since you seem a little nervous I would suggest you hire one. If you cant afford one, give a copy of your list to a close friend or family member that is not in your wedding party and assign them the tasks of making sure your wishes are carried out.

Have an honest convo with your RH and inform them of the bad reviews you have heard and ask them how they will not let this happen at your reception.

If you need anything else FM me and I can help.

I hope this helped a little

Thank you so much for your reply girls.

I'm sorry, I realized I didn't specify my concerns. I've read that the food isn't that great- -which I know isn't really in my control at this point since I already booked with them. Also, a few people stated that the space is really tight once the tables are set up and the artificial 'wall' they use to seperate CH and the reception room looks tacky and guests come in and out as they please during cocktail hour

My other concern is the costs issue. I saw a few BTB here say they were charged $85pp for only 85ppl, but they told me that I HAD TO have 100ppl at $95pp.

Re: JUNE '09 WEDDING @ Beckwith Pointe!

I was a June 04 bride at Beckwith Pointe in the ballroom, and then we returned two years later to host a Greek American Christening for our daughter, in the Harbor View room (where I believe you will be having your wedding). For the Christening, and the addition of the shrimp table we paid 90 p/p on a Sunday night. I think that included the T/T, but the Christening menu is not the same as the Wedding package.

BP holds such a special place in our hearts, and we are so thrilled that we had both events there. My in-laws who are use to going to many formal weddings, and christenings, actually preferred the christening to the wedding, because they thought that room was more intimate.

I think that is excellent advice about writing everything down.

I love the staff there, and I felt they treated us as importantly for the wedding as they did for the christening.

In terms of the food, I have a professionally trained chef in the family, and I have been to some of the finest restaurants in WC and NYC. That being said - I think the food at Beckwith Pointe is fantastic, fresh tasting, and creative. It was fresh and excellent. Many of our guests were from LI and use to the grand affairs they have there, but were also impressed with the food and views of BP. I have read some of the negative reviews regarding the food and I completely disagree with them. Again, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

We had gone to a wedding there in '01 and chose Beckwith Pointe primarily because of its understated elegance, spectacular views, and terrific food. I will probably be writing more about Beckwith Pointe on this and other sites, because I don't understand where some of the negatvity is coming from.

One other note - even if the weather is bad, or there is a downpour, the views will still be beautiful. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments - I swear I don't work for them, but I probably would if asked.

I actually got the same room for less than you but I booked the in January 0f 2008 and I did negotiate with them to lower the min and price.. The reason why I booked bp is the food was AMAZING!!! at each of the tastings, I went to 2 the food was great and I went to another popular place and the food was not great in my opinion.

The wall is an issue for me as well and I am trying to think of a solution to that with my DOC, maybe fabric???no clue yet....all I know is that the food and views are great and with any other RH there are issues with all the places and you just have to work with what you have.

FM me if you want to talk, I have lots of ideas that I plan on incorporating.

None of my guests at either event complained about the accordion wall. Most (if not all) guests will be enjoying the CH and views and will not notice.

However, I have also seen that point brought up on this site.

I would suggest maybe two prominent floral arrangements that could distract from the wall. The sunset view in the Harbor View room is absolutely stunning. I miss it just thinking about it.

Re: JUNE '09 WEDDING @ Beckwith Pointe!

Congratulations!! BP is a place that is very near and dear to my heart. We even drove by it a few weeks ago to see what was happening. I was married in the Ballroom in 04 and my daughter had her Christening in 06 in the Harbor View room. Linda is excellent with details and Michael is a sweetheart. I look forward to hearing about your wedding planning.

We used the BP vendors Arcadia and Great Neck Photographers. I noticed they changed their flower vendor, I'm not sure what happened there. We were very happy with Arcadia, and they were able to do stunning CP's even with an extremely reasonable budget.

And GL to the BP bride getting married tomorrow night. LI sound is beautiful.
