Junebride - re: comparing photographers

I saw your inquiry on the vendor board, but can`t reply there - so here are a few of my thoughts I wanted to share. You`ll be spending 8 - 10 hours with your photographer, so consider how their personality meshes with yours and your fiance's. That was a deciding factor for us, because Fi hates having his picture taken and our photographer has a great sense of humor that made Fi laugh and relax. Look at their photos and compare them to the setting you`ll be in. I loved the photos of one photographer, but realized that the focus of the photo was the setting, not the bride and groom. I liked the dramatic, Martha Stewart type backgrounds, but I`m not going to have that - we`re not getting married on a farm! Our photographer had numerous photos that focused on the bride and groom - the background was unimportant. That suits our situation better. You may be loving their photos with gorgeous gardens and dramatic staircases, but if you don`t have those available to you, you might be disappointed in your shots - make sure they can capture the mood in a similar setting to what you`ll have. Also consider their overall customer service - were they prompt with your appointment, have they returned phone calls, are they polite, or abrupt on the phone? Pick someone you'll like deaing with!!! We`re using a husband and wife team in Forest Hills - Fine Photos by Eric. They have a web page, although it`s pretty basic, only a few photos. http://www.ericsphotos.com 888-290-7200 Our wedding is April 28th, so I`ll be able to post more in late May or June after I see my proofs. They have a wide range of packages and were flexible about changes. Package prices ranged from about $1000 to $3500 and were comparable with were comparable with Grey, Cassarino, Hal Lyndon and Wright studios in terms of what you get in the packages for the $$$.
