Junior Brides maid and SIL rant

How young is too young for a Junior BM? I have 6 kids in my wedding party my cousins4 kids (2 yr old twin girls, 4 yr boy, & 10yr girl) and my niece and nephew (4 & 7) I want my niece 4 and 10yr old cousin as Junior BM and this weekend I was looking online at dresses with my SIL ( I should be booking a hall first but I love looking at dresses ) so every dress she picked out was babyish and I was trying to explain to her that my niece and cousins dresses should be the same. But I dont think that she was understanding me, she then goes on to say that she doesnt want her daughter to wear white and I told her she has nothing to worry about she will not wear white my flower girls will. She then decides to tell me that my niece wants to wear a tiara, I feel bad because I really dont think this is coming from my 4 yr old niece I didnt want the Junior BMs to wear tiaras. We also got on the subject of where I want my reception and she said 'I hope its not in queens because i dont feel like coming all the way in here' ( she lives in LI) I felt like telling her so dont come than , we also spoke about what my wedding song is(Alicia Keys - If I ain't got you) and her response was 'Thats your wedding song?' Is she kidding me!!. Is this not MY WEDDING?? I need advice I feel like screaming am I overreacting???

Listen, like you said this is YOUR wedding. If she doesn't like it TOO BAD, that's the bottom line! Do what you think is best!

I thought that a 4 year old girl was in the age range for a flower girl; junior bridesmaids start around 12-14, but I could be wrong.

And she can't tell you what the bridal party wears, even if it's her daughter. I hate when people pull stuff like that!

I have a JBM in my bridal party who is 10 (will be 11 in two months from wedding date). We chose the Raylia Ingrid line of dresses, which was actually really cool because while my JBM's dress is the same fabric, color and design as my regular BM's, hers is made with some straps so that her dress doesn't look so 'sexy.'

It's your day, and that means YOU (and FH, of course) get to choose where you'll have your wedding and your song as well as nearly everything else. It sounds like there's some animosity somewhere else in your relationship with her; I can't imagine that LI to queens is too much of a trip for anyone to bare, esp your SIL! Good luck with things. It will work out.

I think if they are that young they probably should all be flower girls-but that's just my opinion. Since they are all around the same age it might look weird to have two of them as FG and 1 a junior BM.

As for the dress-that is your choice, not anyone else's.
