jury duty?

jury duty?

I was called for it first time back in January. I postponed it over the phone.

Now I got another jury duty summons where this friday i have to start calling because it says standyby phone juror.

What exactly happens, i just call friday and see if i'm called in?

What are the accepted reasons for additional postponing? If i'm still in school can i postpone?Would i have to go down in person to postpone?
Or should i just get this over and done with now?

I got one also!!!
I have to start calling Monday July 31st!!!!

You basically call in and if your Juror number is within the range of numbers that are on the machine.....you have to go in. I would bring a book or soemthing to do. Last time I had to go I was there all day!!!
You know what though...i was looking at the summons yesterday and it said I had to fill something out and send it back within 5 days.....Um, I didnt do that.
I wonder what will happen???

I'm not sure, i remember I got one while I was in school and called them for a postponement, and they said 'oh, you're in school- then we'll take you off the list.' They didn't ask if I was full or part time.

There are NO automatice exemptions from jury duty. The list was eliminated quite a while ago. I'm amazed they let you postpone over the phone. As for the telephone thing, call the number at whatever time it says to call and listen carefully to the numbers. If your number is in the range you HAVE to show up. If your number is not in the range, do whatever you usually do, and make sure you call the next day. You must repeat this exercise until your number is called and you have to show up, or you have called each of the days you were required to call and they said you didn't have to show up.

While it is true, no law enforcement authority will come hunt you down if you don't show up - it will go in the computer, and should you get pulled over for a traffic infraction, you'll be knee deep in IT!
